ASUS shows new Republic of Gamers P55 mobo
By Hilbert Hagedoorn, November 19, 2009 - 9:22 PM N/A

ASUS will be releasing a new ASUS Maximus III Extreme -- built for overclocking and satisfy enthusiasts with loads of interesting features as Nordic HW reports. Intel's P55 chipset supports the latest LGA1156 processors.

ASUS has designed a whole new power circuitry for the board, no less than 11 digital PWM phases. According to the manufacturer, this solution combines the best from both worlds, the digital and the analog. ASUS has taken ROG Connect to the next level by enabling overclocking via Bluetooth, which means now all you need to overclock is a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.

The motherboard also has a unique function with its LN2 Mode Header jumper that, when activated, optimize the performance of the board when cooled by liquid nitrogen. The jumper is said to trick the internal temperature diode of the CPU and reduce coldbug issues. All the neat CPU features aside, Maximus III Extreme sports five PCI Express x16 slots, which means Quad SLI with x8 bandwidth with each card, or just SLI with full x16 bandwidth. The same of course applies to CrossFireX.

Other features are SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0 and 10 channel HD audio processor.

ASUS Maximus III Extreme will top of the line, but the price remains clouded. More information should surface in two weeks at the official launch.
