At last week's Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco there was a demo in USB 3.1 performance. You see, this is not a minor update it is doubling the speed of USB 3.0 to 10Gbps! In a video after the break you wll see a test system in which they managed a USB 3.1 transfer of roughly 900MB/S.

In the demo in San Francisco this week, the speeds shown prove that these speeds have in fact been reached. In earlier tests, the USB-IF's data transfer speeds reached in excess of 900MBps. USB-IF said that these faster USB speeds should start rollig out in hardware available on shop shelves by the end of next year.
