Update on AMD Catalyst 14.1 Mantle Driver release

Our forums have been going mad and topic of hot discussion with anxious AMD users that are awaiting an AMD Mantle driver. DICE yesterday already rolled out the Battlefield 4 Mantle patch, a mantle benchmark for Star Swarm was released, yet the driver needed got delayed yesterday as AMD stumbled into issues they wanted to fix first. And that makes total sense really. We just learned from AMD that a new driver has been built overnight and that it is being tested by AMD at this very minute. With a bit of luck that  means the actual public release is in the upcoming days. After the break an explanation from AMD.

Now I promised to keep you guys updated as much as I am allowed to, hence this news-posting.

AMD:

During the QA process, we identified an installation issue in AMD Catalyst 14.1 that renders it unsuitable for distribution for testing in your labs. We are testing a new build overnight and will update you on its status by mid-afternoon Eastern Standard Time on January 31. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience and understanding.

This is the press-driver as we have just learned, AMD promised the media at least 24 hours with the driver prior to release to do some internal testing. We do hope it'll be out fairly soon. But at this stage, nothing is certain whatsoever.

So guys, a little more patience please. The stress that the software team is feeling right now must be near silly, so in your comments please bare in mind that there are humans individuals working and stressing hard on this. We'll keep you updated as much as we are allowed to as often as we can. And yeah, give AMD a little more time please. I'm sure you will benefit a lot more from a stable driver opposed to a quick release that crashes all the time.

What's a few days extra ?
