Transcend has released their first NVMe SSD, not the best name but it is called MTE850 and this is a PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 SSD. Powered by 3D NAND MLC flash memory, the MTE850 M.2 SSD gives you not only fast transfer speeds but reliability.

Transcend's MTE850 M.2 SSD follows NVMe 1.2 and utilizes the PCIe™ Gen3 x4 interface, meaning four lanes are used for transmitting and receiving data simultaneously, resulting in compelling performance of up to 2500MB/s read and 1100MB/s write. NVMe (or NVM Express®) is a host controller interface standard designed to address the needs of enterprise and client applications that utilize PCI Express-based solid-state storage. NVMe calls for better performance vectors than AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface), including scalable bandwidth, increased IOPS, and low latency.

Transcend will release three models, a 128, 256 and 512GB version. The MLC NAND from Micron is tied towards a SM2260-controller made by Silicon Motion.

Dimensions (max.) 80.0mm × 22.0mm × 3.58mm (3.15" x 0.87" x 0.14")
Weight (max.) 8g (0.28 oz)
Storage Media 3D NAND MLC flash memory
Operating Voltage DC 3.3V±5%
Operating Temperature 0°C(32°F) ~ 70°C(158°F)
Certificates CE, FCC, BSMI
Warranty Three-year Limited Warranty (Warranty does not apply when SSD Scope's wear-out indicator displays 0% within 3 years.)
Note Some motherboards only provide PCIe x2 connections for the M.2 slot, creating a bottleneck on even the fastest drives. Speed may vary due to host hardware, software, usage, and storage capacity.
System Requirements Computer with M.2 slots supporting PCIe interface, and one of the following operating systems:
  • Windows 7 (additional driver required)
  • Windows 8 (additional driver required)
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Linux Kernel 2.6.31 or later
