Team Guru3D overclocker pours LN2 on hexacore processor gets to 5700 MHz

Processor 721 Published by

Our in-house mad scientist and 'Stig' like personality (without the helmet) under codename Bodar recently picked up a Hexa-core / 6-core Xeon based processor. With Intel's Gulftown in close vicinity we therefore asked Bodar to show us some performance numbers and then poor a few liters if Liquid Nitrogen on the processor to see how deep it will go.

Bodar will take you through some low-level game benchmarks to show performance differences in-between 2, 4 and 6 CPU cores. Then use liquid nitrogen on the setup and will take this hexa-core processor towards 5800 MHz with Hyper Threading enabled. He ended at 5724 MHz for table PI scores and for the Futuremark benchmark sessions roughly got pure 5400 MHz love on all six cores.

Here's a hint, he got a 41277 3DMark Vantage score.

Don't get scared with what you are about to see ..  Latest famous words from this extraordinary dude:

" I broke so many 5870's so I couldn't finish all my LN2 stuff but I'll be back! I haven't posted this in the forum yet cause I wanted you to check it out. here you go. I think 38,810 is number 4 overall in 3dmark 06.. Could have done a lot better if I had a chance to overclock the cards but unfortunately so many died."

Great work Bodar ! Keep em coming man. Should you like give props to Bodar, please do so in this thread.
