SK Hynix GDDR6 Graphics memory has landed, available now

So there is some sort of 'product' sales slide deck series from SK Hynix, and it just got an update, GDDR6 graphics memory has moved in its status, and is available starting now. This reflects the availability of 10, 12 and even 14 Gbps 1GB chips.

First I want to say a thank you towards an anonymous user that goes under the tag "SH SOTN", nearly every day he reports news like shown today, much-appreciated man! Two product codes are listed, each holding two products:

  • H56C8H24MJR-S2C will be the 14 Gbps and 12 Gbps parts
  • H56C8H24MJR-S0C" will be the 12 Gbps and 10 Gbps parts

You can also spot an S2C denomination, that is a lower energy part. Basically, that goes a little like this: 14 Gbps is at 1.35V with 12 Gbps active at 1.35V. The S0C parts manage 12 Gbps at 1.25V, and 10 Gbps at 1.25V.

With GDDR6 now available, we do expect to see some announcement rather sooner than later. I honestly am not certain if we'll see any Volta based parts anytime soon given the current status of AMD Radeon cards, Vega is stuck with HBM2 and AMD's yields as the sales volumes show, remain low. Logic would actually dictate a set of refreshes from NVIDIA based on Pascal, then again that is speculation of the highest level. The reason I am saying this is that graphics card prices for Nvidia have risen as we reported a few days ago, indicating there is a shortage. It might simply be Nvidia clearing stock for the new stuff to replace it.
