Now that's significant. Plextor displayed its next generation of supercharged solid-state drive, the M7e, which features PCIe Gen 2x4, enabling up to 2GB of data to be passed in one second.

PCI express drives give gamers and high intensity users the maximum performance and synergy they crave from their devices. The product was caught on camera thanks to the guys of Legit reviews, the product has a Marvell 88SS9293 controller and is based on a PCI-Express 2.0 x4 bus interface.

Paired with Toshiba A19 MLC NAND flash chips the drive already is showing 1411 MB/s sequential reads, with 1028 MB/s writes. These products should be priced quite low comparable to SSD prices, so that's two to three times the current SSD performance. The product will be sold as M.2. drive but also as a SKU with PCI-Express 2.0 x4 add-on card.
