Pioneer BDR-PR1M And BDR-PR1MA Blu-ray Writers

Pioneer introduced two new Blu-ray writer drives that are capable of writing 100GB Blu-ray XL discs at a speed of 4x CLV maximum. Dubbed as the BDR-PR1M and BDR-PR1MA, both Blu-ray players support up to 4x write for all BD discs, 6x for DVD and 16x for CD. Their main difference is that the BDR-PR1M can be used to check the quality of a recorded disc, right after burning.

The Pioneer BDR-PR1M and BDR-PR1MA will be released in November 2012 in Japan for about 220,000 Yen ($2,832) and 110 000 Yen ($1,416), respectively.

Pioneer is really missing the marketing chance by not giving the PR1MA model number to the higher-end writer.

from the looks of it, the BD is going to last longer then DVD, 25 gig 50 gig 100 gig, and soon 200 gig, and i think it will be the last of the Digital Disk, sens everyone is talking about Digital downloads.
