It is summer time, typically the time that you will hear rumors and gossip on the GPUs often with announcements closer to the end of the year. For this round some new information on Nvidia's upcoming Nvidia Geforce GTX 880 and 800 Series have appeared through the Asia based expreview who shares that the Nvidia Geforce GTX 880 and 880 Ti graphics card are going to replace the 780 series late this year.

The new Maxwell cards will offer quite a bit more performance (well doh), but the interesting rumor here is that the cards would become much cheaper opposed to the pricing levels you currently see with the 780 series. That by itself would be good news, as the current lineup is hurting the market with over-inflated price levels.

Obviously you should take the rumors with a grain of salt as it is rather weird to learn bout pricing so soon already. And as you know Nvidia is very savvy on extremely high prices for their high end and enthusiast grade graphics cards. I mean the GTX 780 sells for 500 EURO, the 780 Ti for 625 EURO, a GTX Titan Black for 900 EUR and if you want a Titan Z, you need to chunk out 2800 EURO. It makes one wonder, what the heck did happen with enthusiast pricing levels over the years ? If anything, it kills the market with low sales.

New reports also indicate that there will be one 20nm Maxwell product later in 2014, though that could be the GTX 880 we likely think it would be the mid-range segment product as 20nm is creating a big can of worms in terms of yields from the looks of things. The road towards 20nm is a complex one. Regardless, we can't wait to see some new gear as both AMD and Nvidia did respin their products a bit too often in our honest opinion.
