Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 with 3GB VRAM and GeForce GTX 1180 Rumor

First, let me address something, there are a number of news items spreading on the web on a potential GeForce GTX 1180, a Volta based GeForce GTX 1180 is spotted in the TPU database and added to that are speculative specifications.

These specifications are based on loose and expected numbers drawn from the original Volta design, yet now with GDDR6 memory. Some others write the most far our details, others say it's reference sample. However, to date, it's nothing even remotely confirmed and really could be considered as clickbait content.

These details seem to be based on speculated specifications that appeared in previous leaks, including assumptions of a TSMC’s 12nm FinFET process, 3584 CUDA cores, 224 texture mapping units and 64 ROPs up to a listed 200 Watt TDP and very specific GPU and Boost clocks. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, I wouldn't mind being completely wrong here though, as hey, them specs would be lovely. I can only leave it at that though.

More substantial is the rumor that Nvidia is working on a 3GB version of its GeForce GTX 1050. The card should fill the gap between the GTX 1050 with 2GB and the GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB. it will be interesting to see how that would work out memory controller wise though. This news reached us though Expreview, that could also mean the release is intended just for the Chinese market.
