Announced last year and starting today Microsoft no longer offers unlimited storage to OneDrive users. Subscribers to Office 365 could previously store an unlimited amount of data on Microsoft’s cloud storage provider but are now limited to 1TB.

Earlier last year Microsoft announced these changes but they came into effect today. It seesm that some companies abused the unlimited OneDrive storage, according to the software giant. Hence the company decided to impose a limit on the amount of data that can be stored. Microsoft decided that 1TB should be sufficient for most users reports myce.

OneDrive users with more than 1 TB on their OneDrive account won’t be able to access their data anymore without permission from Microsoft. They first need to request permission from the software giant after which they get 30 days to access, or move, their data.

The 1TB data storage is available with Office 365 Personal account that can be purchases for 6.99 per month. When you get an and with Office 365 Home you get 1 TB per user (max 5 users) for $9.99 a month.

It’s also possible to get OneDrive storage space without a Office 365 subscription . For $1.99 you can get 50GB OneDrive storage. Free users are limited to 5GB, which was previously also lowered from 15GB.
