Microsoft has stopped production of his Kinect motion camera with voice recognition. The company will provide support for your existing Kinect purchases.

Microsoft confirmed the news with Fast Co Design earlier today. Microsoft does not completely give up the Kinect sensor. Although no new Kinect products will appear, technology is being used in the augmented reality headset, the HoloLens.

In recent years, Microsoft has become less and less productive with Kinect. Ever since 2015  the company already had halted production for the Windows version of Kinect . There was still an Xbox One version, but with the cheaper Xbox One S that connector was removed as well. Kinect was released as an accessory for the Xbox 360 in 2010. The sensor catches user movements to operate and simulate movements in say a game. Microsoft reportedly sold 35 million copies of Kinect.
