One of the many interesting features on the Radeon HD 5970 graphics adapter is the fact that, despite being ultra fast and highly capable even in basic operational mode, it has a high overclocking potential. To give enthusiasts what they want, namely the possibility of going for safe overclocking scenarios, Koolance started working on a strong liquid cooling module that is nearing completion. Although it has not been released yet, pictures of the upcoming product found their way to the Internet.

Koolance's cooler is called the VID-AR597 waterblock and is especially aimed at successfully preventing overheating when paired with an overclocked Radeon HD 5970 graphics card. The mechanism is a solid copper cooler fully plated with nickel, which delivers excellent liquid flow. The liquid alleviates the two 40nm Cypress graphics processing units of the extra heat. The heatsink is also quite large, allowing for the cooling of all other parts of the card, not just the chips.

To allow end-users to check on the status of the cooler, the product is built with an acrylic lid that enables such purchasers to check on the flow of the liquid, providing the possibility for estimating how much more heat the actual product can handle. As such, end-users will know the general status and whether the cooler would be able to handle even further increases to frequencies, enabling power users to know just how high they can push their Hemlock's clocks without exceeding the VID-AR597's heat reduction capabilities. Koolance's VID-AR597 cooler is bound to become available on December 4 for a price tag of $140.
