LG to offer Display 144Hz IPS Panels

Yesterday we already talked about ASUS, but LG is now jumping on-board as well. That's an IPS panel series that can do 144Hz with a low latency. Heck yeah ! The new 27 " LM270WF8 panel is available in Q3 2015 with a high refresh rate IPS panel.

This particular model panel will offer a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 14ms G2G response time (to be improved with overdrive circuits), 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, sRGB gamut and 178/178 viewing angles. It has a target 144Hz refresh rate.

Over at tft-central they report more on the topic though:

We also have some updates on the 31.5" sized 5k resolution IPS panel we discussed back in January. We now know the panel part will be the LM315QQ1 and the specs have been updated as follows - 5120 x 2880 resolution, 16ms G2G response time (may be improved with overdrive circuits), 1300:1 contrast ratio (high for an IPS panel!), 350 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, Adobe RGB colour space. It's not due to go into production until Q3 so don't expect to see any monitors with it for a while, probably not until the end of the year at best. Likely to be very high end and expensive given the specs of the panel.

In the 31.5" size LG.Display also now have a 1920 x 1080 resolution IPS panel in production already, the LM315WF1. This panel offers a 6ms G2G response time, 1400:1 contrast ratio, 178/178 viewing angles.

It is interesting that LG.Display are now offering higher contrast ratios than the traditional 1000:1 figure we've seen for many years. If they've actually managed to improve contrast ratio in practice that will be good news.

In the 27" space they continue to produce the LM270WQ3 IPS panel which we've seen for a while now. However, interestingly they now list an "A-TW Pol" option for this panel. It might be that we begin to see some 27" IPS displays at some point featuring low-glow panels which would be great news.

There is also a new LM270WR3 IPS panel going in to production in Q3 which will offer a 3840 x 2160 resolution, 14ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, sRGB gamut and 178/178 viewing angles. This will be a borderless "neoblade" design panel.

In the 23.8" space a new LM238WQ1 IPS panel has gone in to production as of March this year. This offers a 2560 x 1440 resolution, 14ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, sRGB gamut and 178/178 viewing angles. There is also a LM238WQ2 version coming in Q2, but the specs listed are the same so it remains to be seen if it will differ.
