I am afraid a LOT of countries did not get samples in time, including Holland for Guru3D.com, but expect a review once the sample is in. Intel officially announcedDevil’s Canyon with two processors, the Intel Core i7 4790K and Intel Core i5-4690K. The Devil’s Canyon CPU announcement today gives a few more final details on the specifications.

Going forward, the Intel Core i7-4790K will replace Intel Core i7-4770K as the flagship Haswell chip.

Both the Devil’s Canyon processors are based on the 22nm Haswell architecture. Intel Core i7-4790K is a 4-core 8-thread fully unlocked processor which is clocked at 4GHz. The 4GHz clock will be available on all the four cores. It comes with proprietary Intel technologies such as Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-threading, HD Graphics 4600 clocked at 1250MHz, Quick sync video and so on. The processor is made for the LGA 1150 socket and will work with the just released Z97 chipset based boards. It will also work with Z87 board which have the updated BIOS.

The Intel Core i5-4690K is a 4-core 4-thread unlocked processor clocked at 3.5GHz with the Turbo clock going to 3.9GHz. It also comes with Intel HD4600 graphics. Both the Devil’s Canyon chips have a TDP rating of 88W.

The Core i7-4790K has been improved on packaging and thermals. There are a lot more capacitors packed onto the processor for smoother power delivery to the die. Intel has embedded what they call Next Generation Polymer Thermal Interface Material (NGPTIM) which works with existing cooling solutions.

According to Intel’s internal testing, the Core i7-4790K offers around 291 per cent improvement over a 5-year old PC which has an Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q9650. As compared to the Sandy Bridge flagship – Intel Core i7-2700K, the Devil’s Canyon offers between 30 to 60 per cent improvement. We can only confirm these numbers after putting the Core i7-4790K through a thorough review of course. The Intel Core i7-4790K will be priced at $339. Intel Core i5-4690K will be priced at $242.

There's more of course, Intel’s Pentium brand has completed 20 years and in order to celebrate the occasion, Intel has announced the anniversary edition Pentium processor – Intel Pentium G3258 which will be clocked at 3.2GHz. So far Pentium processors came with a locked multiplier, but the anniversary edition Pentium processor will come with an unlocked processor allowing you to overclock your Pentium system.

The G3258 is a dual-core processor and will come with Intel HD graphics with support for Quick Sync Video as well. This lets you perform tasks such as video transcoding with ease. The pricing of the Pentium G3258 is expected to be around $72
