Game publisher EA has acquired Gamefly's game streaming service for an amount of money that remains undisclosed. The staff and technology of Gamefly's game streaming service is now part of EA, according to a press release.

Streaming technology enables Gamefly customers to stream games to devices via the Internet. It is therefore possible to play graphically intensive games without an expensive game computer or PC. According to EA, the acquisition is fully completed in May. The acquired staff will be joined to various teams within EA, to look for "new ways to experience games". More and more game companies are investing in streaming technology. Sony has been offering PlayStation Now for some time now, making it possible to play older games over the internet. Chip manufacturer Nvidia offers a similar service with Geforce Now.
