Computex 2011 - OCZ to release RevoDrive Hybrid HDD SSD solution

Located in the Hyatt hotel OCZ is displaying some really interesting kit. The new RevoDrive 3 (120K IOPS!), and RevoDrive 3 X2 ripping holes in you know what at 1200 MB/sec (!) of course the new Vertex and Agility 3 series but the biggest buzz will be a product that is due to be released soon.

It is the OCZ RevoDrive hybrid which is a combination of SSD and HDD. You'll see versions with a 60 or 120 GB SSD partition, combined with say a 500GB HDD. The unit will get a software layer responsible for caching your file, very similar to what Intel does with their SRT Cache technology. The difference here is that the HDD is paired with a blistering fast SandForce SF2200 controller with the NAND flash partitions setup in RAID0. This is going to result in a Hybrid SSD capable of managing 30K IOPS (4KB) which is serious business as it's paired with a storage capacity of 500 to a 1 TB of storage.  Pricing is still to be determined but we expect a 500 GB solution at roughly 400 USD.

Also check out the photo's of the product that sets a new benchmark of 1 million 4K write IOPS with the Z-Drive R4 equipped 3U Colfax International Server based on a Supermicro platform, which features 7.2TB of MLC storage (you can't ever afford it and it's a corporate product). But is does demonstrate which huge steps company is making right now.

Also on display some new power supplies and the rest of OCZs recent and new offerings. Have a peek in our photo-gallery ... and be amazed. Clock here to check the photo's out.
