More news from benQ today as they release the XL2430T Gaming Monitor. There is a 1920 x 1080 resolution, 1ms G2G response time, 144Hz refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness and 170/160 viewing angles. The TN Film panel (from AU Optronics) has a W-LED backlight and so offers a standard sRGB gamut.

The XL series of gaming monitors from BenQ has gone through various refreshes over the years, but one thing which has remained fairly consistent is the design of the screen. The next instalment, the 24” XL2430T will feature a new design though in many areas. The actual screen seems to be fairly similar to before, although it looks like there will be rounded pressable buttons as opposed to touch-sensitive controls. The stand and arm have changed though. The arm is coated in an aluminium alloy for increased stability and a premium feel while the screen maintains its full range of ergonomic adjustments (tilt, height, swivel, rotate). The S-switch device has been re-designed as well and is now called the “S-Switch Arc”, now coming in a circular design which now fits into an indent on the right hand side of the base. The headphone hook is now located at the side of the monitor (above the USB ports located there) and is retractable.

The ‘Game Mode’ presets and Black eQualizer features remain, and there is now also an ‘Auto Game Mode’ setting which intelligently detects the genre of game you’re playing and adjusts to an ‘appropriate’ game mode setting (FPS, RTS etc.)

The XL2430T also retains the Blur Reduction strobe backlight of the Z series screens which is pleasing, and the screen also has a flicker-free backlight and Low Blue Light mode. There are VGA, DL-DVI, 2x HDMI and 1x DisplayPort connections available. There are 2x USB 3.0 ports included as well which is a nice upgrade.
