BenQ has added a new monitor to the line-up, the EX3501R display is a 100Hz and 3440×1440 pixels based screen with VA panel, and advertised with HDR support.
The EX3501R seems to have been fitted with a 35” AU Optronics AMVA panel that can be configured with an up-to 100Hz refresh rate and thus the wide 3440 x 1440 resolution (21:9 UltraWide) as pcmonitors reports today. FreeSync (Adapative Sync) is supported in a range of 48~100Hz. An interesting fact is that the display also supports 24Hz, 25Hz and 30Hz operating modes for film content, so that will make watching a movie on this screen much more enjoyable.

The screen has a steep (1800R) curve and a massive 2500:1 static contrast ratio is listed with 178°/178° viewing angles and a 4ms grey to grey response time. Peak luminance is set at 300 cd/m² which seriously disappoints as the screen is advertised as HDR ready.
Ergo: a HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode is offered however it is Fake HDR, a mode solution that ‘supports’ HDR10 content rather than giving the full blown HDR experience. The monitor has a VESA 100 x 100mm mount, and comes with the following connectors: DP 1.4 (support Adaptive-Sync), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 USB 3.1 ports and a USB Type-C port.
We're sure it is a beautiful screen, but what is up with all that fake HDR stuff lately? Very dodgy marketing. The price is TBA.
