Asustek to reorganize system business group

Asustek Computer, to cope with drastic changes in business environment, will reorganize its System Business Group to two new business units: the Personal Computing Business Unit, which is responsible for notebooks and desktops and consisting of two divisions and two R&D centers. 


And then the Mobile Computing Business Unit responsible for smartphones and tablets and consisting of two divisions, two software R&D centers and a supply chain management center. 

Asustek's Open Platform business unit will no long handle desktops and will only be responsible for upstream and non-PC product lines such as motherboards, graphics cards and LCD monitors.

Asustek vice presidents SY Hsu and Samson Hu have both been appointed to become COO of the company. Hsu will focus on managing the two new computing businesses, while Hu is mainly in charge of Global User Services as well as the Open Platform business unit.

Asustek's ZenFone R&D head Bryan Chang has also been appointed to lead the company's Da Vinci Laboratory R&D team.
