Jim Keller, ex AMD designer and Chief Architect of the ZEN Architecture left AMD roughly a year ago to join Tesla. Now, it seems he is leaving Tesla where he worked on AI and Autopilot, he now has reached his final destination, Intel.

That Keller left Tesla has been confirmed by the company. Keller would fully focus on designing processors at another company. Officially, it is not yet known which company that is, but good sources indicate that it is Intel.

If Keller does indeed join Intel, he would be the following another (former) CEO of AMD, Raja Koduri, the chief architect of the Radeon Technology Group, who also moved to Intel and likely soon to be joined by Chris Hook, who was Senior Director of Global Product Marketing for AMD.

Keller not just responsible for the Zen CPU architecture; but also was leading the team that designed AMD’s still-upcoming ARM-based K12 CPU, pending for launch in 2017. He worked for AMD on the K8, K12 and ZEN microarchitecture and was responsible for the x86-64 instruction set and HyperTransport interconnect.
