AMD: Patent infringement on R9 Fury Cooler not determined

AMD responded on the claim from Asetek that the cooler on the Fury X graphics card would breachan Asetek patent. According to AMD in an earlier case it wasn't determined that Cooler Master is actually breaching patent with the cooler they are using.

AMD posted an statement at gamernexus like this:

“We are aware that Asetek has sued Cooler Master. While we defer to Cooler Master regarding the details of the litigation, we understand that the jury in that case did not find that the Cooler Master heat sink currently used with the Radeon Fury X infringed any of Asetek’s patents.”

Strictly speaking, this assumption is right. Asetek however feels that they are right and have expanded the patent case and will include the cooler and Fury X into the case.

Does anybody remember Rambus back in the days ? Suing everybody they could for the money ? It certainly is starting to feel like that. If Asetek continues on this path, I am fairly sure that it won't be long before the review websites, channel and end-users will start to ban products based on their recent behaviour. I mean we understand that they are protecting a claim, but at what cost ? It certainly is starting to smell like greed, and nothing else in the sense that anybody coming even remotely close to the pump/block design will get hammered unless they pay.

I still say this is inbetween Cooler Master and Asetek,
