OCZ Vertex 2 Pro (SandForce) SSD preview
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
1/22/2010
OCZ has been on a winning streak with their SSD drives ever since that started selling Indilinx controller based products. Armed with that controller and a nice phat cache these SSDs show brilliant performance. Therefore it came as a total shock to all of the sudden see OCZ announce a new series SSDs with SandForce controllers. Apparently it's not needed with the SandForce controllers and that's where the true power of this product is to be found. Fantastic performing SSD drives without the need for a data-cache, saving on money while gaining performance. Too good to be true ? Let's find out.
G.Skill DDR3 2200 MHz C7 PI memory review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
12/21/2009
Some Memory vendors felt the need to go really extreme, and GSkill did exactly that. 2200 MHZ at CAS 7:10:10:28 1T at low voltage (1.65v). Seriously, it's one of the few memory kits we have seen we consider to be extremely uber cool. Powered by Elpida Hyper ICs G.Skill certainly tries to make a difference.
A-Data DDR3-2200+ DRAM XPG Plus 2.0 review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
11/25/2009
Some Memory vendors however felt the need to go really extreme, and A-DATA did exactly that. They are now offering the Plus series version 2.0 dual-channel memory kits --- and tucked nicely away in that product line there's even a kit that will that memory to be clocked at 2200 MHZ at CAS 8:8:8:24 1T at low voltage (1.65v). Now if you don't know what these number mean, then surely this memory and review is not catered for you.
OCZ Agility EX SSD 60GB review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
10/30/2009
Today we test the OCZ Agility EX SSD. If 100% reliability is your thing then this is the cheapest SLC based SSD with an Indilinx controller that you can think of. The OCZ Agility EX offers top notch performance and reliability, we honestly believe in the theory that the SSD could probably outlive you.
Silicon Power M10 External SSD review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
9/22/2009
A little while ago Silicon power released the so called M10 series SSD drive, which in fact is an SSD series that can be used externally, thus outside your PC as it comes with a Mini USB connector and special design casing. As such last week Silicon power submitted the 64GB model for review, and though the product is not targeted at a high-end market performance but leans more towards a portable mobile market .. this little drive could definitely be interesting for a lot of you guys.
Corsair X128 SSD review test
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
8/27/2009
Corsair just launched the X series with the X for eXtreme, and you guessed it already, it's an Indilinx controller based product. Armed with Samsung NAND flash memory and a nice 64MB cache to make your operating system run smooth and stutter free. This 128GB model roadster of an SSD now (r)etails for 300 EUR, and that's cheaper than the competitions offering from OCZ yet with a few more gigabytes available.
OCZ Vertex TURBO SSD review test
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
8/17/2009
As if their top of the line high-end SSD storage units are not fast enough OCZ decided to upgrade their fastest Vertex series SSD disks .. with an even faster model. What OCZ did with the Vertex TURBO is what can be considered tweaking the product to squeeze some extra performance out of it. The Vertex Turbo Series has an increased host clock-speed and the SDR DRAM Cache clock frequency are now running steady and gentle at at 180MHz.
OCZ Agility SSD 120GB review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
8/6/2009
The OCZ Agility series SSD is an accumulation of all the latest breakthroughs in SSD technology, including controller design, spiffy read/write speeds, and 64MB of onboard cache, yet with this series, at a somewhat better price. See, by doing so OCZ shaves another 20 to 25% off the sales price.
Corsair P128 SSD review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
7/16/2009
Corsairs have launched a new P series (Performance) SSD drives. Based on a kickass Samsung controller and Samsung MLC NAND flash memory we'll test a product that is specced with amazing performance. I say dear Sir, let's meet the Corsair P128, have a look at the photo and then head on over to the next page where we'll startup an in-depth look at this dazzling little storage device.
Patriot Torqx 128 GB SSD review
by Hilbert Hagedoorn
7/9/2009
When Guru3D reviewed the OCZ Vertex, we where flabbergasted, when we tested the G.Skill Falcon SSD, we where absolutely amazed. And today's product from Patriot memory is not at all different. Armed with a very sexy multi-channel Indilinx SSD controller and a nice fat 64MB cache we'll be looking at the Patriot Torqx 128GB SSD. A drive that has the latest revision firmware installed and when we bring it onto automotive terms .. an SSD with a lot of torque.
