G T U  -   H i s t o r y

History:

version 3.2:

  • Fixed GTU not showing the Z-Occlusion-Culling box with >23.xx drivers
  • Fixed mixed on/off states for Z24Enable & ZCompressEnable
  • I switched to a much safer adapter detection mechanism for Win9x/ME users. If your card is installed properly then this routine will DEFINATELY find your card. (It queries the driver itself for the registry key) But this has (temporarily) disabled multi adapter support
  • modified largefont settings
  • new program icon
  • overclocking should work with 27.xx drivers.
  • bugfix at twinviewdisabled for 27.xx drivers fixed
  • added possibility to change TextureLevelOfDetail in OpenGL
  • added hotfix to enable negative LOD settings for >23.xx D3D detonators (W9x)
  • renamed "render no more frames ahead than" to "max number of framebuffers"
  • OpenGL FSAA fix
  • I think I found a bugfix for the "konnte Daten fur Bart nicht holen" bug.
  • helpfile integration is finished. The new helpfile is included within the GTU download package.
  • removed the following settings (due to missing information on these settings):
    texture precache
    scene synchronisation
  • modified fast / quality preset
  • Added settings "Color key compatibility" and "Use higher level of Anisotropy with FSAA (Texture Sharpening)"
  • small changes at the OpenGL VSync

version 3.1.2:

  • added information box that popps up when you try to start multiple instances of the GTU
  • new disclaimer
  • resized GTU window
  • changed Direct3D settings layout
  • added support for negative D3D LevelOfDetail values
  • Enhanced Anisotropic4tap setting
  • added a lot of "quickhelp" / tooltip information (The text that appears in the statusbar when you move the mouse over a setting)
  • Bugfix at W-Buffer scaling: With GTU ver 3.1.1 it could set itself to zero
  • added OpenGL PreRenderLimit setting ("Render no more frames ahead than")
  • changed OpenGL layout
  • added DirectX Texture Format settings
  • renamed ZCullEnable setting to "Enable Z-Occlusion-Culling" (only visible with driver version between 20.xx and 22.xx)
  • removed a layout bug that appeared with the Expert Mode
  • removed "Enable alternate depth buffering technique" setting because this only was a fake setting...why didn't I notice that before?? Otherwise...some days ago I got a hint that it is not a fake setting, so stay tuned for the next beta to see if the setting appeares again in the GTU or not.
  • fixed FSAAForceEnable setting (it was showing "on" as off and "off" as on with 23.11 drivers)
  • bugfixed VSYNC setting with 23.11 driver
  • bugfixed ValidateZMethod setting (drivers below 21.xx)
  • Made the GTU (or better: the new layout) compatible with driver versions between 5.xx and the latest (23.xx) drivers
  • Disabled Level 4 & 8 Anisotropy (32 and 64 tap) on all cards below GF3
  • changed text for Anisotropy
  • new updated "Links & Disclaimer" tab
  • modified FSAA settings a bit to allow Quinqunx FSAA with GF3's by default
  • I just noticed the GTU didn't modify VSync correctly with the 23.xx driver
  • fixed wrong LODBiasAdjust algorithm

version 3.1.1:

  • The GTU now is fully compatible with the 23.1x driver.
  • A messagebox popped up at the wrong place with GTU 3.1
  • added w-buffer scaling
  • switched to an updated installer
  • added database file for 23.1x driver
  • due to the changes in the 23.xx drivers I had to modify the database file layout a bit

version 3.1 -final- :

  • bugfixed small OGL FSAA problem
  • w2k/XP color correction is working (but slow) again
  • the GTU sometimes did show wrong icons in the Expert Mode. Fixed.
  • ASUS compatibility update (w9x)
  • due to the mods that were necessary for the above ASUS update I had to modify the adapter detection once more.
  • added support to modify some of the ASUS settings
  • Because of some color correction problems (black screen) I added a new function: Whenever you press CTRL+C in the GTU then the default colors will be initialized which should prevent the system from showing a black screen.
  • I modified the disclaimer a bit to make it more understandy.
  • added some more debug information
  • I possibly fixed the GTUs most serious bug: The "black screen" bug... remember: If the GTU ever does this again, press CTRL+C twice and then please TELL ME about it!
  • right clicking one of the preset buttons (fast / quality) will now jump over to the preset manager to let you bind a preset to this button.
  • Big changes at the Stereo3D settings. Earlier GTU versions were only able to customize the main functionality ... now you have a lot more possibilities to tweak your Stereo settings even while running applications!
  • Fixed wrong prerenderlimit (0) value (If prerenderlimit @ Direct3D is less than 1 then the driver sets it back to 1... now I know :-) )
  • next try: I tried to find a bugfix for the sometimes-stay-in-memory-after-exit problem
  • Fixed buggy RenderQualityFlags setting
  • Added LaserSight property settings (Stereo3D)
  • Added possibility to choose the type of your Stereoglasses. (Stereo3D)
  • Stereoscopy support with 22.xx drivers under Win2k/XP!
I did not really examine these settings yet, I assumed that they're the same as under w9x... and it works...

version 3.1 RC2:

  • Known issues:
The color correction settings do NOT work under W2k/XP.
I know that the Expert Mode sometimes showes one wrong icon. Example: Some entries may only be "1" or "0". When you set such an entry to "2" then the EM should show the icon "=X" that is covered by an orange "!". But as it seems the GTU doesn't like this icon :-(
The GTU sometimes keeps in memory after exit. No idea why.
Database files for Win2k/XP will come with the full GTU 3.1
  • I added a new tab: The App Manager tab
This one will create shortcuts which will give you the possibility to launch applications with different tweaking setups.
  • small color correction bugfix
  • the GTU splash screen did not go away with GTU 3.1 RC1. fixed.
  • Small bugfix a the AGP Rate setting. The GTU did show the wrong value.
  • added a resolution switcher under the System tab
  • new compatibility settings at the System tab (only available with detonator 4 driver)
  • added installer
  • added link to the GTU forum #2 at the 3D-EGS site.
  • added database files for Detonator 20.80 and 21.85 (w9x)
  • bugfix at the preset manager: exported files did not save all settings correctly
  • all preset files (*.gtu) are now associated with the GTU. You only need to click them in the Explorer and they will be activated.
  • resized GTU program client height
  • a lot of ppl were asking me how much they can oc their card. Now I made the GTU give a waring when the clockspeeds are greater than 115% or less than 85% of the default values.
  • the super7compat option could sometimes show the wrong value - fixed.
  • important bugfix at the Expert Mode database file detection
  • Preset Manager ui changes and bugfixes
  • The Expert Mode did not show negative hex values correctly.
  • Fixed a bug that could show strange errors on changing the display driver version in w2k.
  • Fixed bug overclocking bug (w2k)

version 3.1 RC1:

  • Known issues:
The color correction settings do NOT work under W2k/XP.
I know that the Expert Mode sometimes showes one wrong icon. Example: Some entries may only be "1" or "0". When you set such an entry to "2" then the EM should show the icon "=X" that is covered by an orange "!". But as it seems the GTU doesn't like this icon :-(
  • With non-reference drivers you could get an error "could not find NVQTWK.DLL" - fixed.
  • Small layout bugfix
  • New expert mode tab
The expert mode is working! But I didn't create database files for every driver, yet. But the expert mode actually works with all driver versions.
The GTU automatically chooses the database file that fits to your driver. If you've a driver that's not in the database it will choose the version number that's nearest to your driver (only the database files for detonator 12.60 and 14.70 come along with this beta)
  • removed beta settings
  • moved some of the old beta settings to the D3D/OGL/System tabs
  • modified preset manager code
  • The "fast settings" and "quality settings" button are now free to define. You can mark a preset out of the preset manager and it will be activated every time you press the button. Redefine the buttons under the "GTU settings" tab.
  • Fixed bug that kept the GTU popping up after pressing the "send to tray"-button
  • Removed bug that kept the GTU popping up after pressing Alt+F4 (I hope nobody sees the src of this bugfix....)
  • New feature: the commandlineswitch
    ' /start:"c:\example.gtu","c:\ex_app\example.exe" '
will load the preset ' "c:\example.gtu" ' and then start the program ' "c:\ex_app\example.exe" ' - (future plan: Then the settings should be restored to the state they were before - at the moment these settings are being saved in the PM under
    ' Temp\before_example.exe '.)
  • Bugfix at ColorCorrection (When you changed the color things and did not press the apply button the GTU did not reset the color settings after activating an other tab in the GTU.)
  • created primitive helpfiles for the Expert Mode and the GTU settings tab
  • Fixed bug that kept the open and save dialogs fall into the background
  • Small bugfix with ZCompressenable and DXVAEnable
  • Core & memory clockspeeds and Color Correrction settings are saved with the preset files (*.GTU) now, too.
  • New FSAA code
  • Modified w2k adapter detection & color correction code. But color correction doesn't work under w2k ... :-(
  • New feature:
"Override NVidias suggested D3D FSAA settings" - this sounds important ;) but it's just a small thing: in the tweak menu of the drivers only some special FSAA modes (e.g. "1x2" and "2x2") are possible - the GTU normally then only showes these "1x2" and "2x2" settings. Now, with the new option you can make all possible FSAA modes in the GTU visible.
  • Small startup bugfixes
  • w2k overclocking with 14.xx drivers is working again.
  • small changes at the Stereo3D settings
  • The Preset Manager did not work in previous releases under w2k. Now it does.
  • Bugfix at oc feature (w9x)
  • NVidia changed a lot of things with the 21.81 driver. I took care of this in this beta. (I hope I found all the changes!)
  • Some users got the error "konnte Daten für 'saved' nicht holen", this should be fixed.
  • The 21.81 drivers support the OpenGL emulation of the NV25 chip. The GTU can enable this emulation. (The drivers also can emulate a 2nd UNRELEASED chip, I suppose it to be the NV17, but since nobody knowes I will not implement anything about it)
  • modified "apply at startup" checkbox (w9x)
  • changed a lot of code at the color correction feature.
  • some very sensitive code changes at the GTUs main procedure
  • 1st tests with XP
  • XP adapter detection code changes
  • Added driver uninstall function (GTU settings tab)
  • oc UI changes
  • changed information tab style
  • added link to our new sponsor: Dangerous-Zock-Systems
They sell ultra-cool high end pcs for gamers and will be equipped with a special verison of the GTU.
  • added a lot of database files for Win9x/ME. New files for Win2k/XP will come with the full GTU 3.1

version 3.0.4:

  • I'm proud to present a new & unique feature: The profile manager!
  • For Windows9x/ME I added a function that does a backup of the complete registry when 1st starting the GTU.
You can rollback your old registry under the GTU settings tab.
I'll try to get it working under w2k, too.
  • A lot of code changes at the color correction tab
    -> removed some small bugs
-> when you change something at one of the trackbars it will give you a preview 1st. You need to press the apply button to let the changes take effect.
  • I added a cool splash screen
    (BIG thanks to
Claes Mellangård who created the image file)
  • Small layout bugfix: The "send to tray" button was placed wrong under some circumstances.
  • Exported settings under W2k were unusable ... fixed.
  • ELSA drivers should work with the GTU again
  • optimized "fast settings" preset
  • added the possibility to tweak the anisotropic filtering settings
  • fixed incompatibility with 8.xx drivers

version 3.0.3.2:

  • This release fixes some problems under W2k.
  • On some systems it could happen that some games/apps stopped working after starting the GTU. Fixed.

version 3.0.3.1:

  • Only one bugfix - the "pre-GTU system state" button could make trouble under W9x (To all users of GTU 3.0.3: When you had trouble with this version, try the new one! Pressing the button WILL restore your settings as they were when you started GTU 3.0.3 first!)

version 3.0.3:
(This originally was beta 3.1t14, but I decided to release it as 3.03 because it's been too long since the last *real* GTU was released)

  • Removed the 2 face design of the GTU (w9x / w2k). The W2k version now is exactly the same as W9x/ME.
    You will have
    • Overclocking
    • OpenGL and Direct3D tweaks
    • A working pre GTU system state button
    • ...
  • I added a debug mode wich can be activated with the command line switch "/debug". This creates a file called gtu_debug.txt which possibly might help to detect GTU errors.
  • A problem with the overclocking buttons has been solved.
  • bugfix at: wscale16/24, fogtableenable, Def. OpenGL render quality
  • Some w2k adapter detection errors have been found and fixed
  • Under the GTU-settings tab you have a new function that saves your current settings as default
  • The stereo settings under w2k are different from the w9x settings - I took care of this. Actually the w2k drivers don't include real stereo features.
  • The Undo button now also works under NT/W2k
  • I modified the /all switch to get the overclocking feature work with all NVidia cards.
  • Big bugfix at the Color Correction tab - now it works under W9x/ME (and of course W2k!)
  • The overclocking support was damaged in beta 8 and 9. FIXED.

version 3.0.2:

  • Optimized "Pre-GTU system state"-button
  • Now the statusbar confirmes changes in w2k, too.
  • bugfixes at:
    • "S3TCQuality"-button (w9x)
    • "Render no more frames ahead than"-button (w9x)
  • New for OpenGL: "Enable fast linear-mipmap-linear filtering" (w9x)
  • The GTU has better Stereo3D support: You can alter the values for StereoConvergence, StereoSeparation and SnapShotQuality.
(The 1st and the 2nd are the basic Stereo3D tweaks)

version 3.0.1:

  • Under w2k the S3TC quality option didn't work correctly. Fixed.
  • I think the DynamicFSAA option had an error, too. I changed the value of the "Antialiasdynamicenable" entry to "4" instead of "1". (w2k & w9x)
  • The "Anisotropic4tap" option under Beta -> D3D might help your performance / image quality! Read its help! (w9x)
  • Changes at the D3D FSAA option: The 10.50 driver does only allow up to 2x2 FSAA under D3D. (w9x)

version 3.0:

Sorry to all Win2000 users... no updated features in this release (again...) but I'll promise the next GTU will have new features for Win2000!!

  • You can force the GTU to use older NVidia cards by starting it with the command line switch "/all". (This is something that works since GTU v. 2.6 but I forgot to mention it in the last release ...)
  • Modified & renamed the "Antialias Dynamic FPS" option.
This is a very interesting feature of the drivers: With this option you are able to define the minumum desired framerate when using FSAA. Example: You enter a value of "30". Now the driver decides which FSAA mode it uses, to achieve your 30 fps.
  • If no Nvidia adapter can be found the GTU automatically tries to find one with the "/old"-option.
  • The old help system has been replaced by a new one: Now you can find the hints for all the options in the statusbar
  • The statusbar has a 2nd funtion: It confirmes the changes the user has done.
  • In order to make the GTU enable the Stereo support in OpenGL I removed the auto-enable of the StereoConvergence option. Thanks to Toxic-X of Stereovision.net - he always keeps me updated with good information on the Stereo settings... :-)
  • Under the Import/Export-tab the GTU shows form where you imported your settings
  • some code optimisations
  • The most wanted feature (as I have noticed) for the GTU has been implemented: At its 1st startup the GTU saves all current NVidia settings. To bring your system back to the pre-GTU state you need to press the "Pre-GTU system state"-button.
  • New Options:
(The blue ones only work with 10.xx drivers)
    • BETA General:
      DisableTVOverscan, TwinViewDisabled, Nv11DVIConnectorOnly, TVOutOnPrimary, DisableTVClockInversion
    • BETA OpenGL:
      TextureDirectLoad, DefaultLogAniso
    • BETA Direct3D:
      ANTIALIASCONVOLUTIONFASTMODE, FORCEANISOTROPICLEVEL
    • Stereo3D:
      CycleFrustumAdjust, NoOrthoStereo, LaserSightEnabled, LaserSightProperty
    • General:
      Enable256Burst

There would be some more options I could add, so stay tuned for the next version.

  • bugfix at the color correction tab

version 2.6.1:

only bugfixes this time:

  • the "Zugriffsverletzung bei ... " bug is fixed - to apply this bugfix it might be necessary to press the "Rescan"-button once
  • bugfix at the "Advanced"-button under the "GTU settings" tab
  • some bugfixes at the color correction tab

version 2.6:

  • Bugfixes at the following options:
    Anisotropic4Tap, FavorSZ, AGPTexCutOff, FogTable emulation
  • added multi-adapter support (that means the GTU can control more than one Nvidia adapter in your pc)
  • improved adapter detection mechanism
  • new tab: "GTU settings" - this gives you more control over the GTU
    • You can enter the registry path to your video card manually - that means you can (theoretically) use the GTU with all vendor specific drivers now!
    • You can choose if you wish the GTU to use its driver specific interface or not
    • Because of some incompatibilities on some user pcs there's an option to prevent the GTU to auto create the beta entries
  • small registry bugfixes
  • GTU FAQ update

version 2.5.1:

  • some modifications at the version detection mechanism (w98)
  • Removed some old, unnecessary options (w98)
  • fixed Detonator 6.xx/7.xx D3D Vsync problem (w98)
  • the "default values"-button has been made more easiely to handle (w98)
  • The GTU now knows the default values of ALL entries (w98)

version 2.5:

  • Another problem of the GTU has been solved: The GTU is now able to detect the driver version. This results in a version-specific behaviour of the program. (w98)
  • FSAA changing did not work with the 7.xx Detonator drivers. Now it does. (w98)
  • Small bugfix at the color correction tab. (w98)

version 2.4:

  • New Beta option:
    "VS_HOS_EMULATION" (w9x)
  • changed the value of "NV15Alines" form 1 to 2. Now this entry works correctly: it boosts OGL wireframe performance in tests like "SPEC ViewPERF" (w9x)
  • disabled overclocking with ASUS / ELSA drivers (because it doesn't work with the GTU) (w9x)
  • The "Enable Fogtable emulation" has been renamed to "Disable Fogtable emulation" (The function did do the opposite of what it should: "Enable" disabled FTEmu and the other way round) (w9x)

version 2.3:

  • Fixed bug that could make the GTU display wrong settings (w2k)
  • Added color correction support (w98)
  • Some layout improvements :-)
  • Changed the copyright status of the GTU (read the information box in the "information" tab of the GTU)
  • Moved "DXVAEnable" from the beta options to D3D. I think it's to enable "DirectX Video Acceleration" (w98)
  • 17 new options for Windows 2000. Examples:
    Direct3D
    - DirectX Video Acceleration
    - W-Buffer settings
    - Z-Buffer compression
    OpenGL
    - Force 16bit Z-Buffer
    - S3TC quality bugfix
  • Added a beta settings tab in the W2K version!
  • 4 New entries in the beta tab (w98) - one is: "UseIntelCompat"
  • Added "Laser Sight" option to the Stereo3D tab (That's what I thought when I found the entry: "ASUS 3D See Through" ... But I guess I'm wrong.)
  • 4 new options in the "General" tab: (w98)
    - Enable AGP Fastwrites
    - Disable AGP Fastwrites Disconnect
    - Enable AGP SideBandAdressing
    - Enable AGP Fastwrites Strap
  • The program disclaimer has changed.
(Webmasters: You are no longer allowed to distribute the GTU. But you may place a link to this site.)

Note: It's impossible to use the Stereo3D settings at the moment because a necessary .DLL was/is not included in the Detonator driver package. You can change the settings with the GTU, but it won't effect a lot.

version 2.2:

  • Added support for a new bundle of features of the 7.xx Detonator drivers (w98):
The new drivers have stereo capabilities!
(That is what I think of this feature: This either is for multi-monitoring or the support of stereo glasses, such as the ELSA 3D Revelator.)
  • Moved the W-Buffer settings from the Beta options to the Direct3D tab (w98)
  • Added "Z-Buffer Compression" (w98)
  • Some new beta options (e.g. "NV20Emulate" - The 7.xx drivers already support the NV20!!) (w98)

-- Some words on the "NV20Emulate"-option:
If you want to see an interesting effect, check the NV20Emulate box. Then start Quake3Arena and go to the "Setup" menu -> "System" -> "Driver information"
There you see the name of the chip --- I can read 'BoomBoom/emulated ... '

boomboom.gif (5433 Byte)

I think BoomBoom might be the name of the next chip (NV20) released by Nvidia!! But it's only an assumption of me.

version 2.1:

  • When you use the large fonts on your pc then you'll like this update: All components are completely visible now!

version 2.0:

  • That damn overclocing feature is WORKING now!! (w9x)
This is a result of a good work together with Andrew Charnley (NVMax) and Alex (RivaTuner).
  • fixed a bug that appeared when you minimized the GTU twice.
  • fixed DirectX antialiasing problem in W2k
  • fixed small bug of the "fast settings" and "quality settings" button (w2k)

version 1.1:

  • changed the behavior of the "fast settings"-button
(Thanks to Valtteri Eränen) and the hints of some options (W9x)
  • added "Set IoPageLockLimit to 0"-option (W2k)
  • added "Largepage minimum = -1"-option (W2k) --> That's the fix AMD and Micro$oft released for those who've problems with their Athlon and Win2000.
  • changed my email-adress in the help menus
  • added feature to save/load your personal settings (W9x / w2k)
  • added feature to send the GTU down to the system tray as a tray icon (W9x / W2k) ... tnx to MiGa!!
Note: When you minimize the GTU it will become a tray icon!!
  • removed stupid bug of 3 D3D (W2k) options: "Mipmap Detail", "Mipmap Level" and "Render no more frames..." were linked together.
  • the four buttons "fast settings", "quality settings", "default settings" and "undo changes" now are available in W2k, too.

version 1.0 final:

  • I got some info on the "MaxNVAccel"-beta option, renamed it and placed it in the OpenGL options. (W9x)
    Tnxx to Unwinder!
  • Removed a bug in the "Undo changes" button (W9x)
  • New options:
    "Enable fast copy pixels" (W2k & W9x)
    "Enable hardware tweaking menu" (W2k)
    "Enable dynamic Antialiasing" (W9x)
    "Antialias dynamic FPS" (W9x)
29 new, interesting beta options! (W9x)
  • The GTU works with Windows ME! (again)

version 1.0.12:

  • The GTU works with W2K now!
(But the W2K support is only in a testing phase at the moment, there could be bugs.)
  • added OpenGL "FSAA Quality" option
  • added "enable Fastwrites" option
  • lots of code optimisations, removed some small bugs
  • changed the layout
  • added "AGP Transfer Rate" option
  • added OpenGL "Texture precache" option
  • removed second "Buffer flipping mode" option
  • added "Do I/O to flush cache" option
  • changed the GeForce detection method - now it should work with digital TFT displays, too. (By starting the GTU with the command line parameter "/old" you can use the old detection method, if the new doesn't work with your drivers) - I hope this won't result in more bugs...
  • Now it's possible to use the program with TNT / TNT2 based display adapters.
(After starting the GTU an error message will appear when you have a non-GF/GF2 . Press "Ignorieren" to use the program.
But after all it's NOT RECOMMENDED to use the GTU on any other card than on a GF256/GF2GTS/GF2MX.)
  • The command line switch "/fast" activates fast D3D and OpenGl settings.
The command line switch "/quality" activates the best D3D and OpenGL quality settings.
These settings can also be activated by pressing the "fast settings" or "quality settings" button in the GTU.
  • GeforceTweak now is compatible with the latest ELSA drivers!
  • There's an "undo changes"-button now. The GTU remembers the settings it found when it was started and restores them when you press the button.
  • The new "standart settings"-button removes all changes that were made by the GTU.
  • Added "Use unified back/depth buffer"-option
  • There are 2 new beta options available

version 0.71:

  • fixed broken link to the latest Detonator drivers
  • fixed small registry bug (see this page for more infos)

version 0.7:

  • fixed a BIG bug, that made Geforcetweak sometimes stop working after installing new drivers
  • All ASUS drivers (based on the 5.xx Detonator drivers) should work - not only the 5.16 drivers.
  • if you use ASUS drivers: diabled options that don't work with these drivers
  • added "buffer flipping mode" option
  • changed some textfields

version 0.6:

  • Now it works with the latest ASUS drivers (these are based on detonator 5.16), too! So you can use your ASUS stereo glasses AND tweak the drivers with my prog!
    (thanks Francis!)
  • added "Disable DirectX6 features" for more compatibilty
  • fixed "Konnte Daten für '...' nicht setzen"-bug
  • added "enable anisotropic filtering" option
  • Core/memclock settings are useable! But I don't know if they really work. (Please report your experiences!)
Try them with care - you need to know what you're doing! You can seriously damage your card if you set wrong values!
  • changed the reg-key for the Beta-checkboxes

version 0.52:

  • added option to download Detonator drivers ver. 5.30
  • added link to this page

version 0.51:

  • some minor bugfixes at the beta options

version 0.5:

  • added beta options
  • disabled (again) Core/Memclock settings... it simply didn't work
  • all the checkboxes should now provide help if you move the mouse pointer over them (..not all of them are useful...)

version 0.4:

  • first test of Mem/Coreclock
  • added feature to find the correct Geforce registry key (if you have more than one Geforce, the tool will use the first it finds in the registry!)

version 0.3:

  • first public release
  • all registry mods seemed to work as they should

Future plans:
