Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix |
As the name refers, it's a fight against
terrorism by a soldier (you) who is capable of eliminating hundreds of
enemies at a time (is this possible?). The story covers different aspects.
When the campaign starts, you are inside a taxi speaking with the taxi
driver about your mission. Then you go to a person, receive your
briefcase and continue to a cafe where you are equipped with guns.

The campaign starts.....
After being loaded with weapons, you are
dropped to the start point of the first level of the first mission. The
first mission is to rescue a doctor who is going to tell (reveal) some
secrets that are of utmost value to the Shop. What is that Shop? Well it
is the organization working to eliminate terrorism from the world and for
this purpose they assign different missions to John Mullins. John Mullins
is the character you play and you can see him below.

This is John Mullins.
The doctor which you have to rescue is
present in a room at a hotel. You have to get to that hotel, enter it and
once with the doc, follow him and he will take you to the exit point. So
that's the first missions. In fact it is not that short. In your way to
the hotel you will encounter dozens of enemies which will be tougher than
other enemies seen in today's shooters. These enemies has a great AI. They
don't even protect themselves from your fire but they also try to find
cover and take you out. Sometimes they will drop their weapon, if you fire
on their arm, and to again equip themselves they rush towards it to grab
it. These all things are quite interesting but added their good AI, it is
sometime very difficult to eliminate all of them and move further,
especially in later missions.
Great AI.
Even if you are playing with the easiest
difficulty settings you won't find it easy to play. You got to be good at
FPS games and must be an experienced player to challenge these enemies.
But for new comers, you will need some time and after playing a lot you
will be on the way to fight against terrorism. By the way this terrorism
is not related to the real world, this is just a story plotted by Raven
themselves, as seen in credits that the story is made up by Raven Software. The
terrorists are actually developing some bio-chemicals and these chemicals
are being used as war weapons. These chemicals adversely effects the human
life and it is a deadly known chemical which was in fact developed by the
good-guys but accidentally it fell into the bad-hands and as a result it
was a big threat to all of the world. To eliminate the cause you are being send
out to take out that deadly chemical from the bad guys.

These soldiers will do their best to
eliminate you.
