As you progress thru the Evolution mode you will
begin to collect a garage full of cars. Some cars are needed for a
certain class of race, but once you finish racing in that class, you
can keep them or decide to sell them back to get more money for future
classes of cars and races. There is no set rules for what you keep and
what you sell, so every player will end up with their own unique
garage full of cars to choose from. As you progress thru the different
era's you will have the chance to purchase and race 80 different
models from the 1950 "356" that you start the game with, all
the way thru to the 2000 "911" Turbo.
The races in Evolution mode range from single-event to multiple track
tournaments and endurance. There are fourteen tracks / courses in
total, with nine European open road courses and five closed circuit
tracks. The European courses are point-to-point races with alternate
paths to choose from, so deciding which way might shave a second or
two off your time can be very important.
There are several classes of events in each era, and you will need to
own and race a car from the appropriate class. There are special
challenges that occur at the end of an era, which will give you the
chance to win some of the most expensive cars available, but you will
only get one chance. If you succeed, not only do you get a great car,
but since it's a prize for winning, you also save a lot of money by
not having to deplete your bank account to buy it. Evolution is very
lengthy, and has a definite Role-Playing side to it. You will quickly
be drawn into the game by having to make decisions about what cars to
keep or sell, and which ones to upgrade, and to what extent.
SINGLE PLAYER / SINGLE RACE: This mode is for when you want
some quick action and has three difficulty settings--Beginner,
Advanced and Expert, and has three events:
Single Race- Just as the name implies, do a quick race on a single
track with nothing but pride at stake.
Knockout- This is a series of races on linear tracks where the last
place finisher of each race is eliminated.
Quick Knockout- This is a single race on a circuit track where the
last place finisher for each lap is eliminated.
NOTE: Only a few tracks will be available to choose from when you
start this mode and you will have to progress thru Evolution to unlock
the rest.
