The healer is a classic!

Hey hey! Another game from Eidos. You remember them... they bought us Lara Croft, so I guess we all owe them a little something, even if it's only test driving a new demo. Well, this one was worth the download. It's a top-down RPG/Adventure game, very much in the Diablo mould. I'm a big Diablo fan, so I was glad to see another game of the same sort. It seems to be a lot broader than Diablo, with a bigger area to explore and more evironments. You play Locke, this dark, forboding dude out to wreak havoc on The Cult, a gang of nasties that have taken over this land. Along the way you get to kill all sorts of nasty, ugly ermmm... things, all the while upgrading your weapons, armour and yourself. You also get to meet some very cool characters along the way who'll help you out (but it'll cost you).

Helloooo nurse!

I found moving around a little awkward at first, but I quickly got used to it. Fighting took a little more getting used to, but once you figure out that you can do quick thrusts and slahes or huge swings, you learn how to fight the different bad dudes and things get a lot easier. You start of in this village with about 4 buildings. First you need to go out into the forest though and kill a few of the nasties. This isn't all that hard at first. they consist of these fat uselesss spiders and funny little bastards that are hard to hit but do bugger all damage anyway (they soon upgrade to ogres and trolls and the like). Once you get into town you can visit a few different shops. An inn where you can rest up and also meet some tart dressed in a skimpy outfit with big knockers. There's also the armoury (run by an ogre) and a weapons shop (run by a cat woman thing person). Once you have enough gold you can by the usual improved good to up your armour class and do more damage. the highlight of the demo, though, is the healer. He's this fat Willie Nelson lookalike in a tie-dye shirt who's obviously just stepped out of the 60's and who'll "help you out, man". As the story on him goes, "his insistence on being from another time has made him a lonely person". Personally, I loved this. I played for a long time and even though it's only a small area in the demo, I didn't get tired ouf it at all. I'd buy this for sure.
