Mozilla Firefox 9

Mozilla's Firefox version number inflation drive continues as it plays catch up with Google Chrome 13 and Internet Explorer 9. Released today, Firefox 9 packs small number of new features, improved font rendering, along with the usual load of security and bug fixes.

What’s new in Firefox 9? In terms of noticeable features, practically nothing. However, it’s behind the scenes where Firefox development is currently being pushed, and version 9 introduces support for “type inference”, which in layman’s terms means the browser is now capable of processing java script  code much quicker – up to 44 per cent quicker according to Mozilla’s own tests – than previous versions, meaning that java script  apps should be noticeably quicker to the end user.
