Download the NVIDIA GeForce 310.61 Beta 32/64-bit driver

The new GeForce 310.61 beta drivers are now available to download. Otherwise identical to last week's 310.54 beta driver, 310.61 beta improves compatibility in Hitman: Absolution and Planetside 2, and supports a new Black Ops II SLI profile that's available through NVIDIA update.

If you have any feedback please leave a comment at the bottom of the article, and if you have a technical issue please report the problem via the NVIDIA Display Driver Feedback Form.

Note: We're releasing the 310.61 beta drivers ahead of schedule so gamers can play Hitman: Absolution without delay.

In last month’s GeForce 310.33 beta driver we improved performance by up to 15% in nine games, and this month we’re improving performance by up to 26% in twenty games. Leading the charge in the 310.54 beta driver is a 26% boost for the upcoming and eagerly-anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which hits stores tomorrow, followed by an 18% boost for The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, a 17.8% boost for Assassin’s Creed III, which arrives in stores November 20th, and a 12.9% boost for Battlefield 3.

Below, we detail the complete range of optimizations packed into the 310.54 beta drivers using the GeForce GTX 680 and GTX 660; at home you should expect to see performance improvements on any system utilizing a GeForce GTX 400, 500, or 600 series GPU, though obviously to varying degrees.

Can someone PLEASE check if your idle clocks are higher than usual on a gtx 670/680?

Mine's idling at 324MHz, global power management is set to adaptive, and yes, all browsers are closed. What's it supposed to be, 50MHz?

AndyB, is there anything known about the Windows 8 desktop settings for centering the task bar to center screen and maximizing to one screen? This when using 3 screens and Nvidia surround. The option is only there with Windows 7 and seems to be removed with Windows 8.

@Others, I don't need comments about Windows 8 being crap, it's not, live with it.

Bit of an odd one here when Installing nvidia drivers instead of the screen flicking as it installed the new driver it didn't, just said installing driver and the colours went back to bland. I opened up nvidia control panel and it keeps crashing.

    First time this has happened.

Andy/Manuel, I'm still having trouble with Black Ops 2. Sli doesn't kick in automatically in the SP and MP exe's. I have to force AFR2 to get it to work.

With this driver SWTOR and MWO is still freezing every 15 minutes (the same as with 310.33 and 310.54 before). 306.97 is working fine with both games...no crash or freeze at all.

Now I want to play Hitman Absolution, but the 306.97 has no SLI Profile for it :(.

Is there a way to import a working SLI Profile for Hitman Absolution in the 306.97 or does anybody know working SLI compatibility bits for Hitman (or can point me in the right direction) ?

At the moment I have to switch the Driver between 310.61 and 306.97 if I want to play SWTOR or MWO and Hitman Absolution...and that really sucks :(

I'm glad to see that nVidia know about the BF3 crashes. I'll be sticking to the whql's until a new driver set is released. Theres nothing worse than crashing an hour into the game or ten minutes... The crashes are random though. With the whql driver set my system is rock solid :)

World of tanks exits to desktop with these after playing a while. Shortly before exiting all textures vanished from the game and then it went black. No error messages or driver crashes.
At the start of the game there was a lot of lagging, which normally doesn't happen. 310.54 also exits to desktop (happened once while in garage).

The 306.97 WHQL drivers works very well with World Of Tanks.

So I just played a couple of Rush matches in BF3. The slow downs seem to be gone now, but the crashes are still there.

AndyB says the driver is identical to 301.54 for everything other than Hitman and PlanetSide, then how did it manage to fix BF3 slow downs lol. Using the same settings in-game and in NVCPL. Smooth as butter, but sudden crash is there, happens once every PC restart no matter how long I play.

Whoa! So new drivers are the problem for my CTD's in WoT? :3eyes:
I'm using every new set of drivers with WoT and lately (2-3 months maybe) I have regular CTD's during loading map or at the end of the battle returning to garage but I thought that it was because of WG patches. :D

I'll try again 306.97 WHQL to see if I'm fine.

    Thanks man.

I have had no problems with 306.97 drivers. The 310 branch is acting weird in WOT.

Dont expect Nvidia to do anything for Guild Wars 2 until ArenaNet gets their head out of their ass and fix the game.

Even without ANet fixing things in their side, NV could fix the AO bits.

/e: but what's really more important is fixing the general stability issues with the latest drivers. I've never had any crashes with NV drivers before, seems optimizations went a bit too far. Also it's irritating that I have to adjust my clock settings with each new driver because the clocks magically change.

After a total of 6 hours of play, BF3 didn't crash on my system. All I did was a clean nvidia driver install, deleted and re-installed the ff: BF3 folder on My Doc, Pb folders and Battlelog plug-ins. I also increased my gpu voltage from 1.000 to 1.025. Now, I went back to 306.97WHQL because I feel uneasy using BETA drivers and just wanted to try it out.

Can i expect DeusEX HR fixes in next release, did you forward it to driver dev team? :)

Ingame max settings, in nvcpl profile prefer max. performance, 16xAF.

1frame to render ahead crashes the game after video loading, 2 fixes it but stutter remasins kinda like before 301.44? fix., doesnt matter vsync on or off.

    Thanks.

Can you give me your full system specs?

What I did a custom upgrade (I always deselect the two 3D options) from v310.54 to v310.61 the NVIDIA Update Components failed to install every time (I tried it three times altogether). The only way I could get it to install was to do a Custom > Clean install. This is the first time I've come across this as I generally do upgrade installs rather than clean ones. Then again I'm using Windows 8 Pro so it could be an issue related to that rather than the driver.

AndyB please understand the last 3 releases are ACCESSING THE WRONG P-STATES for mobile kepler users PLEASE LISTEN TO US. IDLE CLOCKS are higher than they should be and max clocks are lower than they should be. PLEASE FIX THIS or our notebooks will burn out easier.

When you are expecting idle clocks, are all the apps closed? If not, can you please tell me which apps you have open?

In my case, yes. After a reboot, the Core clocks are 405. This does not happen with the 306.97 WHQL where it is 135 at idle.

My autostart apps are Logitech SetPoint and Logitech GamingSoftware, except from that, nothing but Microsoft Security Essentials. But the idle clock bug still persists when I close the two Logitech applications.

Thanks for having a look at this!

I also replied to your PM regarding my Notebook Model :)

and nvcpl settings, ingame were at max possible.

I was playing at downsample resolution (1600x1200), if that makes any difference (vram max 900-1000mb), no gpu overclock.

This stutter problem was present before 301 and all 29x.xx, only 301.42-307.45 fixed it until now with all 310.xx drivers.. Same stutter or maybe a little worse by camera movements (looking around)..

    Thanks :)
