Download the unofficial AMD Catalyst 13.2 BETA driver

This unofficial AMD Catalyst 13.2 BETA 12.100.0 driver is compatible with AMD Radeon HD 5000, HD 6000 and HD 7000 Series graphics cards. This display driver supports Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8.

With this driver, these products offer support for WDDM 1.2, which is an updated model for graphics drivers that Microsoft has developed to ensure smooth performance and wide compatibility in their new operating system.

This driver requires that you have Microsoft .Net 4 framework installed, not included in this download. Should you need it, you can grab it here.

Build Info:

  • 12.10-130101a-151427E-ATI
  • DriverVer=01/01/2013, 12.100.0.0000
  • Catalyst: 13.2
  • CCC: 2013.0101.2208.39702
  • 3D: 9.14.10.0960
  • OGL: 6.14.10.12115
  • OCL: 10.0.1124.2
Please do not use any other Catalyst profile patch (CAP) with this driver, the one already inside is more newer than 12.11 cap2.
Here is the differencies between the cap in this driver and the 12.11 cap2, so you can test these games and check for improvement:

  • 3dMark Vantage (cfx)
  • Battle Forge (cfx)
  • Aliens Vs Predator (cfx)
  • Lost Planet 2 (cfx)
  • F1 2012 (cfx)
  • 3DMark 11 (cfx)

  • Blacklight: Retribution (cfx)
  • FarCry 3 (single card)
  • Skyrim (cfx & single card)
  • GuildWars 2 (cfx & single card)
  • Borderlands 2 (cfx & single card)
  • Rise of the Triad (unreleased)

Thanks to ZealotKi11er over at overclock.net for this driver. We had a bit of doubt wether not to post and host this driver as it is very much in BETA stages. So please understand what you are dealing with. However we figured its better to download these drivers from Guru3D.com (where we test the binaries) then on the multiple dodgy file sharing hosts this driver has been launched on.

"THE LEAKED BETA 13.2 IS AN UNFINISHED DRIVER SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO TEST FRAME LATENCY, WITH NO FINAL QA COMPLETED ON ANYTHING ELSE IN THE DRIVER. PLUS OTHER GOODIES INTENDED FOR THE REAL 13.2 ARE MISSING. DO NOT INSTALL IT IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT BETA."

Just so that we are clear on that ok ? Beta ...

most gw2 issues are due to the current state of the gw2 engine, Anet made some very poor choices when developing gw2.

    1. dx9 rather then 11(because they wanted to sell the game to people whos systems are running xp still, even tho they cant really run it properly...)

    2. they went with umbra for occlusion culling and rely on it WAY to much, if you ever see what the map looks like in areas they dont expect you to get to, you see alot of visable surfaces that are multi layers of rocks/terrain over rocks/terrain, they know this is an issue and are still working on it....

    3. the games dependant on 1 thread for video performance, it has like 46 threads but theres 1 heavy thread that holds everything else back, this is why people with high end intel chips still have perf issues just like AMD users do.

    4. the games 32bit without PAE, so its very limited on ram it can use....

word is they are "working on" a dx11 update but thats months out if not more...they are working on perf issues.....still thats months out im sure.....

Still, I was in the WoW beta and.....it was worse on launch then gw2 was, and anet are doing a better job getting stuff fixed then blizzard did with WoW on launch.......Give them time, they will get things worked out eventually.....

I know it has 1 thread for video performance, visible in the high usage on one of the cores. Main problem is that I don't see that core at 100% (max I saw it was 95%).

To be honest some of the peformance patches (most of them, if not all, were ninja without any notes regarding performance changes) made things worst then it was at game launch, at least for me.
Also they had some uggly regresions that made some uggly bugs came back in the game (like the ones that make the npcs in AC refuse to trigger next steps with no way to fix them other them redo that path), based on that it won't be a surprise if other regressions regarding performance happened.

I did some tests on an sempron 145 + hd 5670 + 4gb ddr3 (I know under the min requirements, it fails to unlock no matter what I do) and on athlon x2 4000+ (@2.4ghz max i can get from the motherboard i use for it, in theory it pass the min req) + hd 5670 + 4gb ddr2 in both cases game was unplayable (I consider a game playable if it's able to stay at 24+ fps and in both cases a simple walk in LA got the fps under 20 fps at an hour when LA is almost empty on my server, I don't even want to think what will happen if there are some skill animation there). The game it's not playable in relative older hardware.

Nothing stopped them to release the game with dx9 and dx10/11 support. For example gw1 can still be run with dx8 (doesn't look to well in some areas but the game works). After all if we believe their afirmations they worked at it for ~6 years.

The laggy part don't happen with all drivers so it probably has to be something that changed with 12.9+ drivers.
And the white rectangle I saw it happened only with 13.2 and I think it was caused by a change in 13.2.

The flickers, the slow loading textures, the texture that don't fit well, strange fps change in areas where nothing happens can have multiple causes.
I don't have an nvidia gpu to see if I can replicate some problems or not (I have an old 7300 gt but last time i used it i didn't like what i saw, not funny to see the image as it has waves on it and i believe something is wrong with it).

Both this version and the 13.1 version still have the bug where CCC is using 13.1% CPU resources.

    Same as 12.11b2.

i think you have some problem on your windows, never seen what you saying:

one question: Are 78xx series affected from memory latency?

I posted this in the 13.1 WHQL thread, but is there any chance of somehow utilising that HDMI audio fix on the 13.2 beta?

When a Steam toaster appears, or you enable Steam in-game, does anyone else experience a gamma issue where in-game brightness goes really high?

No the 13.2 Beta includes CAPs that are newer than the 12.11 CAP2. Newer = they include the older CAPs (one of which is 12.11 CAP2).

13.2 should provide a more smooth framerate compared to 12.11 betas:
    http://techreport.com/review/24218/a-driver-update-to-reduce-radeon-frame-times

Edit: Yes it does, Skyrim is a lot smoother, very positive. I hope we see more of this!

Just played far cry 3 with beta 13.2, no real improvement with cfx 7970s vs 12.11 beta 11, still stuttering. Guess we'll have to wait until the memmory manager rewrite. Overall glad to see new drivers though (other cfx tweaks), and i do like the per application tweaks to the control panel , even if i wont use them due to radeon pro.

I tried on my 5850m, worked great until I shut my lid... bsod every time. I dont have it set to go to sleep when closing the lid either, but this looks promising as games felt smoother. Frame latencies seem to be improved in guild wars 2 and dishonored, but framerates are the same.

they must have added that since the last time i checked, they have been being pushed pretty hard by alot of us to get with the times, i mean, its 2013 and they are still using dx9c.....an API released August 6, 2004, rather then a modern api that could not only improve perf but also gfx quality.

From what some of us can figure out from things the anet people have said, this could be because they have been considering a console version of gw2, and since current gen consoles are dx9 level hardware......

also they wanted to capatialize on the market of people who either cant or wont upgrade to windows 7....

also note: properly done dx11 can still benefit people running dx9 and 10 hardware, things like driver level multithreading still works, and dx11 can simply disable or run in software those features that the hardware dosnt support(im in a couple beta's that do this now)

oh well, anet will do what anet will do.....just seems silly to me that they didnt go dx11, sure they would have lost some sales to xp users(who for the most part really cant run the game properly anyway) but they would have gained sales and been able to push the fact they where using modern hardware to its fullest......:/

well its lunch time, im gonna eat :D
blah blah blah, more forum nonsense. dx9 still makes the most sense even today, dx10 was a bust and the 8800/9800 series are still the mostly widely used cards. The game is extremely well done for what it is, leave it alone. They started developing this game in 2007, so figure it out...

Right I know its installed with the driver, but the old style showed the applications in a list and you could select them. I guess that method has been removed and it's all automatic, and you can't manually select and force it from the drop down menu anymore.

Other than all of that, this driver is amazing for sure. It has everything 13.1 had and a bit more. Sure I understand it doesn't have everything that the official 13.2 will, but its a better driver than 13.1 from my experiences.

blah blah blah, more forum nonsense. dx9 still makes the most sense even today, dx10 was a bust and the 8800/9800 series are still the mostly widely used cards. The game is extremely well done for what it is, leave it alone. They started developing this game in 2007, so figure it out...

Yes they started developing it in 07', but that does not mean changes can't still be made. They mentioned that they would support DX11 after it started development, and decided to drop it. It could have been a choice to enable or not. From what I understand, they still have plans to make it DX11 in the future, just how GW1 rendered in DX9 or 8.1 if you didn't have a DX9 card when factions released.

Someone encountered the error KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE while installing this driver in Windows 8 Pro x64? I have a HP dv6 notebook with Radeon 6750m graphics GPU (and a 6620G in the APU, dual graphics in enabled). Thanks in advance!
