Intel series 520 240GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 2/6/2012

We review the Intel series 520 240GB SSD. They now have multiple SSDs on the market initially with their proprietary controller, then a Marvel controller, and today Intel releases the Series 520 SSDs based on SandForce, well LSI these days.

Crucial M4 128GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 12/21/2011

We finally test the Crucial M4 128GB SSD and will check out the performance of this very popular SSD. Obviously the M4 series is nothing other then a success story, and with a lot of people not trusting SandForce anymore we'll have a peek, after which we'll dive into the technology behind it and obviously we'll present you a nice phat performance overview.

Patriot Pyro SE 240GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 12/16/2011

Patriot wanted to release another SSD, something a little over the top and as such that meant releasing the Pyro SE SSD. While based on the SandForce 2281 controller Patriot did apply some tweaks to make the product even faster. To keep it up to snuff it comes with synchronous NAND flash memory. According to Patriot that will increase its sequential read and write performance to 550MB/s and 520MB/s.

Corsair Performance Pro 256GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 12/9/2011

Corsair made a wise decision as well, they will not stick to just one SSD based controller, and as such they just launched the Performance Pro series SSDs. In 128GB and 256GB capacities these drives will be unleashed just before the Christmas season is starting.

OCZ Octane 512GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 12/5/2011

After testing the OCZ Octane, we can only agree, the names does the product justice. The Indlinx Everest based SSD is massively impressive and can compete with the best SSDs on the market.

ADATA N005 Pro USB flash drive review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 12/2/2011

ADATA recently released a USB stick, all 3.0 compatible and it's called the N005 Pro from their Nobility series of products. We test the 64GB version of this model, and their N005 Pro is fast for USB flash storage alright, the little fracker can get you read performance of 180MB/sec peaks while writing just under 90 MB/sec.

OCZ Synapse Cache SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 11/18/2011

While OCZ just released the Revodrive Hybrid, they now also launch a seriously fast SSD just for caching. Combined with their Dataplex cache application software and your own HDD, the combination could be just what you are looking for, all at a much better price as well with no limitations to your hardware setup. It's armed with a SandForce 2281 controller and the means to use it, as alongside the SSD you get to use the very same cache software layer the RevoDrive Hybrid uses, Dataplex. A cache in combination with the Synapse SSD offers read speeds of up-to 550MB/s and write performance of up-to 490 MB/sec.

ADATA SH14 portable USB 3.0 HDD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 10/17/2011

It's time to review another USB 3.0 storage unit. It's originates from ADATA and is called the Superior (not a pun) SH14. We test the 750GB version of this model which should bring us read performance of 90 MB/sec. ADATA's latest looks quite fashionable. Buried under red is a 2.5-inch, 5400RPM drive that's IPX4 water-resistant and "military grade shockproof."

OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 10/11/2011

We review the RevoDrive Hybrid. The idea behind the device hints very much towards Intel's Rapid Storage technology where a HDD is being cached by a Nand flash storage unit. Being OCZ they are making it an enthusiast class performance product. The product we test today for example comes with a 1TB HDD, and a really large 100GB cache partition running over SF2281 controllers. OCZ then applies a mix of their VCA 2.0 technology

ADATA S511 series 60GB SSD review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 9/26/2011

ADATA added no less than four new SATA 3 (SATA 3 6Gs) SSDs in their S511 series lineup, in 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and even 480MB capacities, all SATA 3 of course. The SSD drives come with that already prominent SandForce SF-2281 controller to deliver up to 550 MBps read and 500 MBps write speeds (when peaking). We take a look at the 60GB model.
