Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5P X58 motherboard review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 11/17/2008

For those of you who missed the little bomb that Intel dropped earlier on, X58 is the enthusiast high-end chipset for motherboards. Enthusiast also means expensive and I won't lie to you, it would make more sense to just sit it out and wait for cheaper chipset to arrive. This review will cover the GA-EX58-UD5P motherboard from the funky blue colored people at Gigabyte.

ECS X58B-A motherboard review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 11/13/2008

Motherboard test - ECS released a drop-dead gorgeous looking X58 motherboard. it's feature rich has a few hidden Easter eggs and get this .. it's only 250 USD. Now this motherboard is a Black Edition. meaning black PCB, a solid color schema connector wise, extra hidden features like micro switches for power/reset and even CMOS CLEAR, optical audio TOSLINK outputs, copper heatpipe passive cooling, dual GigE Ethernet and heck it's even SLI certified for two way SLI.

ASUS P6T DeLuxe review - X58 motherboard by Hilbert Hagedoorn 11/6/2008

So ASUS has sent us this early version of their X58 motherboards. Sexy looks, loads of features, heck this motherboard will support up to 24GB of DDR3-1333 memory, thanks to its six DIMM slots. It also has features like a Serial Attached SCSI controller to support higher-end SAS hard drives known from the server industry for power users who desire nothing but the best performance. Next to that, it's just an amazing piece of machinery to look at. Nice black PCB, extravagant connectivity, SLI/ Crossfire compatible, passively cooled. And if you opt the P6T Deluxe OC Palm version, you'll even receive an external little LCD screen showing off the latest system info, widgets and overclocking tools at hand. Very cool.

ECS A790GXM mainboard review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 10/1/2008

A790GXM mainboard test - ECS is trying get a more reach in the enthusiast market, I wasn't surprised to see them release the product as shown today.   ECS Atom 330 Dual Core P945GC review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 9/19/2008

Take this mainboard from ECS. It comes with integrated Dual Core Atom 330 processor. It has integrated sound, 10/100 Ethernet and integrated graphics. Really all you need to do is insert a slice of DDR2 533 memory and connect a HD, and you are on the web ... browsing at fairly normal speeds, listening to a songs, watching a DVD ... heck it all works fine on that Intel Atom 330 for sure. Next to that, the power consumption is obviously amazing. The platform completely maxed out merely utilizes 55 Watts, and half of that your PSU will account for all by itself.

AMD 790GX - Foxconn A7DA-S review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 9/3/2008

A review of the AMD 790GX chipset based on the Foxconn A7DA-S mainboard. With the more high-end consumer in mind AMD released the new 790GX series mainboards. The mainboard is a lot about status, as AMD want to re-establish their status and performance levels for their products again. Hey in the end, all you have is your reputation right ? And for a chipset manufacturer that means top dog electronics.

ECS X48T-A review mainboard by Hilbert Hagedoorn 7/8/2008

Typically an X48 chipset based mainboard will start at roughly 250 USD. The two chips the mainboard manufacturer has to purchase from Intel total up towards 90 USD alone. I'll spill the beans already for today, you can pickup this product for 199 USD. And it even looks superb.

Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 review by Hilbert Hagedoorn 5/20/2008

What's so new about X48 opposed to the previous X38 you might ask .. well the only difference between the X48 and the X38 chipsets is the official support for 400MHz FSB (1,600MHz effective) CPUs. And let me restate 'official' there as the X38 mainboards can do that FSB perfectly well if you get the latest BIOS. But hey ... this is where we land a the premises of Gigabyte, they make pretty dandy mainboards and especially their high end series always have some cool features that'll tickly your brain and make you all gigly.
