We test and review the GeForce GTX Titan. The GeForce GTX Titan is NVIDIAs fastest single GPU based graphics card they have ever built. It is based on the GK110 GPU and has an astonishing 7.1 Billion transistors and is as such is nearly as fast as one GeForce GTX 690 with two GTX 680 GPUs ! We test the product with the hottest games like Battlefield 3, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3, Medal of Honor Warfighter, Hitman Absolution and many more. Next to that with the three samples we have at hand we'll be looking at SLI performance scaling in another article as well.

nice card but damn screw that price. 660gtx will serve me well for 3 years before it both, Unless a game comes out I really need new card for.

About the card´s price, it´s obviously too much for a gaming card and for the performance it offers but we have to remember that this is the same silicon that powers the Tesla range, where cards are sold at more than double the price.
So if gamers want the privilege to game with a card that is sold at a much higher price as an workstation card, it´s only natural that Nvidia is going to charge a lot for it!!!
In a certain way, i think this price is Nvidia´s artificial way to unsure most of this chips are sold as Tesla cars instead of Geforce cards because producing a chip this complex shouldn´t be easy and the yields on this thing should be very poor.

But damn! A Titan at estimated 745euros/650 pounds. That would be amazing. But lets not forget warranty, shipping etc. Especially warranty. And VAT etc etc.

My guess is this card will sell out very quickly, and I said it before the gk110 Tesla cards are far mor expensive. Maybe amd will counter with 30 free games with a 7000 series purchase

No it isnt as the low core clocks will bottleneck the card.
People forget its not just RAM that increases when you apply 8xMSAA.
You also need much faster core to get a constant 60fps at 8xMSAA.
Even if you had 40GB of ram on this card still dont matter.
This is where tri and quad sli come into effect.
And Max Payne 3 and Hitman Absolution with 8xMSAA as well on single and multiple displays? In fact, I would love to see a feature on VRAM usage. Is that 6 GB of VRAM really worth having at this point?

I'm browsing on my cell so I can't really comment on much but the 7970 is a bit faster in games and benches, knowing that I still went with 2 680 4gb. I am having a blast with them. Near perfect experience ftw

Given the facts that you can plug up to 4 screens on the card and that BF3 uses around 1.5GB of VRAM for one screen at 1080p, it could be useful for Surround View or 3D Vision.

Given the facts that you can plug up to 4 screens on the card and that BF3 uses around 1.5GB of VRAM for one screen at 1080p, it could be useful for Surround View or 3D Vision.

Except you miss a simple fact.... The Tesla products of the past, were based on G80, GT200 and GF100....the exact same chips that were initially used for the 8800Ultra, GTX280 and GTX480 and NVidia still charged a massive premium for those Tesla cards, even though the chips were originally designed for graphics cards.

Yes, AMD improved the drivers a LOT over the last year. AMD doesn't have the resources that NVidia does, so it takes a bit longer to get the full performance from an AMD card while they learn how to optimize the drivers for the cards.

Could push my old dell 22" to 76Hz through custom resolutions, and now 96 - 120hz on my current display.
I hope they raise the stupid DVI limitations that are imposed in the current drivers. Have to hack them to run my DVI-D cable at 470Mhz/12GBps.
Even though it was quite possible to overclock my monitor with my old 560 ti and current 660 ti.
Overall it looks like a powerful card, and seems like a fine step from the 680. I guess this is the geforce card? no GTX 780 ?

Well, you may be looking at the 7970ghz edition, which is an OC'd 7970, but the regular 7970 is mostly behind the 680. Aside from that, yes, AMD seems to have done remarkably well in driver improvements over last few months.

NVIDIA's dual-GPU flagship GTX 690 is still roughly 20% faster than Titan though. While it suffers from the requirement to have proper game-specific SLI profiles for optimum scaling, NVIDIA has done a very good job here in the past and out of the 19 games in our test suite, SLI only fails in F1 2012. Compare that to 6 out of 19 failed with AMD CrossFire. Looking at the F1 2012 example, we can clearly see the benefits of having a single powerful GPU. In that specific test, looking at 5760x1080 surround gaming, GTX Titan makes short shrift of any other card by delivering over 50% higher frame rates - crucial for aspiring race drivers playing on three screens.
