OCZ ZT 650W power supply review -
So then, here we have the packaging so you know what to look for in the stores. The PSU inside is packaged nicely and protected in a carton.
The PSU is delivered with some simple basics like power cable manual and screws. As stated, this is a 100% modular model.
After unpacking, not a dent, scratch or smudge was on the unit. Rough matte finish, nice black / yellow theme. The PSU is ready for nearly all upcoming CPU & GPU generations and offers good capacity 12V rails. There is one single rail. This 650W model allows cool 54 AMPs on the one single 12V rail, so when you do the math .. that's 650W for 12V alone.
The PSU complies to EPS12V PSU design guides for compatibility and also comply with the ErP (Energy Related product) directive to ensure less than 1W of power is used in passive standby and off modes. We'll measure that later on actually.
At the front side we spot a nice honeycomb air vent; it allows for optimal airflow running through the PSU, cooling down its components and keeping them nicely efficient. Also, obviously we spot the power connector and on/off switch.
OCZ releases the ZT model in a three fold of models, a 550W model priced at 55 EUR, a 650 model priced at 75 EUR and a 750W model priced at 90 EUR (USD conversion is roughly similar at the moment). So you are in the market for an affordable PSU, want a modular design and want bang for buck ? Well, the new ZT series from OCZ seems to do the job quite well.
