OCZ ZS series 650W power supply review -
So then, here we have the packaging so you know what to look for in the stores. The PSU inside is packaged nicely and protected in a carton.
The PSU is delivered with some simple basics like power cable manual and screws. As stated, this is a non-modular model.
After unpacking, not a dent, scratch or smudge was on the unit. Rough matte finish, nice black theme. The PSU is ready for nearly all upcoming CPU & GPU generations and offers good capacity 12V rails. There is one single rail.
The PSU complies to EPS12V PSU design guides for compatibility & ZERO LOAD Design for Hybrid Mode functions & C6 state functions. Meaning powered off or in sleep mode it should consume less then one watt.
At the front side we spot a nice honeycomb air vent; it allows for optimal airflow running through the PSU, cooling down its components and keeping them nicely efficient. Also, obviously we spot the power connector and on/off switch.
OCZ releases the ZS model in a three fold of models, a 550W model priced at 55 EUR, a 650 model priced at 65 EUR and a 750W model priced at 75 EUR (USD conversion is similar at the moment). The big question with it remain reasonably efficient and most of alls stable ? Today we'll grab a couple of other power supplies and see how efficient the PSU is and how well it behaves under load.
