Far Cry  PC Graphics Performance with 24 graphics cards

** Please read ** - I've been hesitating whether or not to post this review. When we worked our way half way through the benchmarks we got informed by AMD that they will be releasing a performance driver for Far Cry 3 upcoming Monday or Tuesday. With that in mind I wondered whether or not to continue with the article. Considering that people would like to know what performance is like with the current drivers I have made a simplified version of this performance overview with a limited number of graphics card. This way you do have an impression if you are playing, or about to play the game this weekend.

Only 14 graphics cards have been used in this review. Once AMD has updated their driver we'll re-benchmark the Radeon cards and make a full article (next week).

So please understand that AMD (much like NVIDIA did with the GeForce 310.64 driver WILL release a driver with Far Cry 3 optimizations that enhance performance.

** Article updated Dec 4 2012 ** Radeon cards have been tested with the new 12.11 Beta 11 driver with 12.11 CAP2 profiles and the number graphics cards benchmarked have been scaled upwards to 24 cards used in this article.

Next to that we included CPU scaling with a handful of different processors to see what kind of effect your processor brand has on game performance.

----

So then, in this review we'll look at Far Cry 3 VGA Graphics benchmark performance with roughly 25 graphics cards. The new and popular title is looking great from a graphics point of view. But as a result how will it perform on a selection of different graphics cards ? This review will cover all these basics and then more so you know what choice to make either graphics card or in-game settings wise.

Rain bullets on your enemies in Far Cry 3 with an arsenal of customizable weapons and combat abilities. Whether ambushing enemies with deadly SMGs, executing close-quarter takedowns, or setting the jungle ablaze with a flame thrower, you can get that perfect kill with your own personal touch of chaos.

Shoot first, ask questions later. In Far Cry 3, players step into the shoes of Jason Brody, a man alone at the edge of the world, stranded on a mysterious tropical island — players will slash, sneak and shoot their way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of morality.

We all have been waiting long for this classic shooter game especially on PC to issue a follow up on Far Cry 2. The game is looking graphically to be very impressive on the PC and as it seems it's a a recipe that will not disappoint.

The Plot

Far Cry 3 takes place on a tropical island found somewhere at the intersection of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The main goal of the game is to save your kidnapped friends and escape from the islands and their unhinged inhabitants.

Far Cry 3 returns the series to a tropical island setting, similar to the first game and unlike the second game, which took place in an African savanna setting. Players will assume the role of protagonist Jason Brody, part of a group of friends on vacation who end up getting captured by Vaas, the leader of a group of pirates working for a slave trafficking ring. Jason escapes and now seeks to rescue his friends. In the short demo trailer that was the first footage released of the game in development, Jason interacts with Vaas (voice, motion capture and facial motion capture by Michael Mando), who gives an unsettling monologue about the nature of insanity before trying to drown Jason by anchoring him to a cinder block and throwing him into a natural pool of water that has clearly been used repeatedly for this purpose.

Early developer interviews provided little about Jason's backstory, aside from the fact that he possesses a strong skillset as a combatant and survivalist that give him a fighting chance in the desperate circumstances he constantly finds himself in during the events of the game.

In this article we are going to look at DirectX 11 class graphics performance measured with a no less than 25 graphics cards from AMD (Radeon and NVIDIA (GeForce).
