3DMark Vantage focuses on the two areas most critical to gaming performance: the CPU and the GPU. With the emergence of multi-package and multi-core configurations on both the CPU and GPU side, the performance scale of these areas has widened, and the visual and game-play effects made possible by these configurations are accordingly wide-ranging. This makes covering the entire spectrum of 3D gaming a difficult task. 3DMark Vantage solves this problem in three ways:
1. Isolate GPU and CPU performance benchmarking into separate tests,
2. Cover several visual and game-play effects and techniques in four different tests, and
3. Introduce visual quality presets to scale the graphics test load up through the highest-end hardware.
To this end, 3DMark Vantage has two GPU tests, each with a different emphasis on various visual techniques, and two CPU tests, which cover the two most common CPU-side tasks: Physics Simulation and AI. It also has four visual quality presets (Entry, Performance, High, and Extreme) available in the Advanced and Professional versions, which increase the graphics load successively for even more visual quality. Each preset will produce a separate, official 3DMark Score, tagged with the preset in question.
The graphics load increases significantly from the lowest to the highest preset. The Performance preset is targeted for mid-range hardware with 256 MB of graphics memory. The Entry preset is targeted for integrated and low-end hardware with 128 MB of graphics memory. The higher presets require 512 MB of graphics memory, and are targeted for high-end and multi-GPU systems.

With 3DMark Vantage we look at the two main results it returns in the 'P' performance test. Decent numbers really. A lot can be said about the 3DMark series, yet the GPU score really is good and reproduces a very reliable number that scales pretty darn well and can be considered trustworthy. First the reference scores, the 768MB model scores almost 12k in the GPU score and the 1024MB version scores roughly 12.5k
Let's refocus at the chart and check the tested product:
- The model pushes roughly 14K GPU and 15k4 on the overall P score
You'd nearly forget it, but we are still talking about the mid-range segment. This is just excellent performance.
The GeForce GTX 560 we'll review in this article comes from ECS, out of the three products GTX 560 tested today here on Guru3D.com this one is reference clocked, has a reference design and a reference cooler. So this product will be the baseline performance product. Now that does not mean a sober product contrary, baseline performance is pretty good for the money. And next to that, we all know you'll gain the most from the less expensive products one you go and tweak them.

We review the ECS GeForce GTX 460 Black series. Within the entire scope of Fermi GPU based graphics cards from NVIDIA the GeForce GTX 460 has to be the most interesting in terms of value for money with very acceptable decent thermals and power consumption. This is why we see a lot of SKU's released for this product, with a variety of cooling and factory overclocks. ECS Elite group also release a handful of GeForce GTX 460 cards, based on the reference design, slight overclock yet also a BLACK series graphics card which is a factory overclocked model with an Arctic cooling Accelero Xtreme PRO cooler sitting on top of that GPU.

ECS GeForce GTS 250 tested -- Today the turn goes to the folks at ECS. Ever since the past year or two they have been trying hard to get a grip in the e-tail and retail channel, and as a brand they certainly are growing. With a creative product design and marketing team they present us some fairly special designs and concepts. Today's product tested is not at all different. Though we'll stubble into a reference clocked product, there is very little little reference otherwise.
ECS GeForce 9800 GTX+ Hydra SLI
A review on the ECS GeForce 9800 GTX+ Hydra SLI. Basically you'll receive two pre-modified GeForce 9800 GTX+ products and a water-cooling kit that is supplied by Thermaltake. It's in fact the Thermaltake big water series that you can slide into you 5.25"drive bay easily. Pretty much the only thing you need to do is connect four tubing connections, fill her up, connect some wiring ... and you are good to go. That's 15 minutes tops to get a gaming performance level better than the GeForce GTX 280.
