DeepCool Killer Whale CPU Cooler review -
Once you've unboxed the Killer Whale, you will see a lot of brackets and screws. It comes with an already installed fan which supports PWM control due to its 4-pin connector.
First of all, the universal back plate for every Intel based LGA socket is spotted. Also, there are two brackets, H-Plate-UI and H-Plate-UA, for Intel and AMD platforms respectively. Notice that you should use the 1366/1156 two retention modules for Core i3/5/7 installation. Four pieces for each module of Hexangular nuts, Intel fittings, thumb, flat and B-type screws, washers and insulating cushion are all included in the package. And of course the manual is too.
Standing in the dark, blackening the blue oceans tales and legends speak of a black and white whale that eats meat! Ladies and gentlemen, Guru3D gives you the Killer Whale.
Look carefully at this cooler and admire the embossed DeepCool marking in the front. On the top, there is a helicoperish fan-grill which adds an aerial tone foreboding strong windy airflow. Somehow to me it resembles Darth Vader the wicked Sith lord from the Star Wars series. Or more likely it mimics a spaceship vehicle rather than a whale but its definitely a killer one!
There are six heatpipes which indirectly transfer the heat through the fins. These fifty-five metal pieces cover a big surface and manage to dissipate the CPU heat successfully. At first sight, the Killer Whale looks overly large but sometimes appearances can be deceptive. As a matter of fact, you are able to use all your memory banks without hesitation. Although its common for large heatsinks to disable the use of the first memory slot, the Killer Whale does not. This is definitely an advantage as coolers are getting bigger and bigger.
DeepCool is devoted to Green & Eco protection offering professional high quality products with innovative design and first class manufacturing. One of their recently manufactured products is the catchy Killer Whale cooler, which was made to extend their Seven Seas domination throughout our Core i7 sockets too. Contrary to other heatsinks, this product doesnt look familiar nor is it common-shaped. Thus, I must admit that we are very excited to test this Killer Whale as to appraise its value. Fasten your seat belts, grab a couple of fishing rods and lets go for whale adventures coming straight at you.
