Dominator Platinum - The Coolest memory you've seen?

When is comes to DDR3 memory modules there's nearly too much to choose from, the cheap but dull all green Kingston Value memory for example works absolutely fine. Then the regular mainstream DIMMs, then step it up a little and say Corsair Vengeance memory is a hint faster and much cooler looking inside your PC. Then there's extreme overclocking memory for the performance enthusiasts but sitting one notch lower in the memory arena is memory as presented today -- the really cool products.

Stylish RAM memory for the people that need fast performance, the people that build their own PCs, perhaps customize it a little, yes... the ones that treat it carefully and want to design a PC that has the right looks. In that mindset Corsair released new Dominator Platinum memory kits. Not cheap, but uber cool with fantastic looks and frequencies rating up to even PC3-21300 (2666MHz) that can be enabled with simple XMP profiles. The new Platinum series has really unique features as the DIMMs all come with LED lighting, it is Corsair Link compatible for real-time activity and temperature monitoring and comes with aluminum heatspreaders and an all metal top bar giving it that rigid and sturdy feel. Corsair backs their DIMMs up by a limited lifetime warranty as well.

Now we just received a quad channel kit - or dual-dual-channel ;) rated PC3-17066 (2133MHz) at CAS9. A little tweakable and overclockable, but most of all this has to be the coolest looking memory kit anno Summer 2012.

So while you'd almost have forgotten that with the many product out Corsair is still a memory company we'll check out a 16GB low voltage DDR3 kit (4 x 4GB) that can be set at 2133 MHz just with the flick of an XMP switch in the BIOS.

The end results will be very interesting as we'll simply take this memory seated on a Core i7 3860K / X79 chipset setup and evaluate it to the baseline performance of other chipsets/processors and their respective reference baseline performance. Mind you that the quad DIMM kit tested today can be used for dual-channel configurations in combo with Z68 or P67 and Z77 etc as well.

Have a peek first...

We review a new chassis from Corsair, it Obsidian 350D. It is the mini-me version of the new Obsidian 900D chassis. Not mid, not full, mini and this intended for small form factor PCs. Now the product might be tagged as mini, the details and features however are grand. Armed with a price much better then the 900D this might be the product a lot of you are on the lookout for.

We review the Voyager Air, it is a portable storage unit allows you to connect it towards USB 3.0 and Ethernet, but it also includes WIFI support and it actually comes on a 100 GB HDD model as well. This great looking device might just be what the doctor to move or stream your content from.
