Features and Benefits
ASUS has been producing great and interesting ROG products for several years now, and the Vulcan ANC is definitely part of the breed. The Vulcan has a very stylish design to them, taking some inspiration from Dr. Dre Beats, but the Vulcan are definitely unique. Lets take a look at some photography.
The Vulcan ANC are over-the-ear type headphones, meaning your whole ear fits within the earcup, which provides better comfort and better sound isolation. It's also red, which means pure awesome. The padding on the earcups is also extremely soft.
Faux-fiber on the outside earcups. One of which is a battery door. You'll should get a couple of weeks of solid use out of the single AAA battery.
Chrome accents. Im just saying, if ASUS ever do a Guru3d.com special edition, its got to all be chrome. MORE CHROME!
The metal hinges snap inward. You might find yourself snapping them for the fun of it.
The red earcups swivel around. Notice the foam ring on the inside. This is where a lot of the passive noise attenuation comes from.
And the microphones on each driver is where the active noise cancellation comes from. We did experience one incident where we had to turn on and off the ANC to get sound again. Very odd, but if you find yourself without sound, try that.
This is where the drivers are, and where the sexy red and black cushions are. The drivers are off center and pointed towards your ear, which improves sound quality and comfort.
Power switch, cable, and Mic all located on the left side, the non-mouse hand side.
The cables and stuff. The All-in-one cable approach is very convenient, even though the Vulcan ANC is not a surround headset, and much appreciated.
Proprietary cable again, but notice the color matching. Very nice attention to detail.
The inline volume control and mute pod is very light weight. It doesn't go to 11, but I did leave it at 10.
Well, I was very surprised by the Vulcan ANC, not just for some of the gee-whiz features, but for the straight up sound of the headphones. I'll get to that in the next pages, but I already have my mind made up, the Vulcan ANC are at the top of my list right now for gaming headsets.
ASUS ROG Vulcan ANC headsets are possibly the best noise-canceling headset you can buy. They combine ultimate gaming features with audiophile sound to make one kick-ass product.
