Anno 2070

The popular Anno series has been ongoing for many years now and is always based on history. The development team must have thought that there really is only so much you can do with fishers, wooden ships and colonial-era economies. Instead of going for a historic Anno 1850 the franchise decided to jump to the future, 58 years ahead of time!

It's 2070 and the world has changed. The sea’s rising level has harmed the coastal cities and climate change has made large stretches of land inhospitable.

In Anno 2070 the game offers a new world full of challenges, where you will need to master resources, diplomacy and trade in the most comprehensive economic management system seen yet in the Anno series.

Build your society of the future, colonize islands and create sprawling mega cities with multitudes of buildings, vehicles and resources to manage. Engineer new production chains such as Robot Factories, Oil Refineries and Diamond Mines and trade with a variety of goods and commodities

There are two new and completely different factions -- the ecology-minded Eden Initiative and the industrialist Global Trust -- now vie for control of the remnants of civilization, and it is up to you to keep trying to create the perfect archipelago empire until the birds start chirping and you notice the sun has started to rise.

The game has three factions: The Eden Initiative (referred to as the 'Ecos'), The Global Trust (referred to as the 'Tycoons'), and the S.A.A.T. (referred to as the 'Tech'). Ecos are environmental and build sustainable cities but are inefficient and slow to expand. Tycoons are industrious and expand quickly, but have problems with pollution and dwindling resources. The Tech is a support faction available to the other two, and they are useful in researching the latest and most powerful technologies.

You choose a side... and start building your own civilization based on your moral principles.

Realistically the Anno series has always caught me, making me spend way too much time on it. For Anno 2070 the graphics engine has been updated, the game is now DirectX 11 compatible. And as such it is time to throw a couple of graphics cards (well we can't say that nineteen graphics cards are a couple really) at it to see how well the game performs with DX11 cards Anno 2012.
