Sleeping Dogs - Final words and conclusion
Tweet

DX11: Sleeping Dogs

Based in Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs takes gamers through diverse neighborhoods, ranging from the high class Central HK to the bustling fish markets of Aberdeen and beyond in a wide variety of story missions and sandbox activities. The game also introduces handfuls of intriguing characters for gamers to interact with as they navigate through a truly unique and dangerous city.

The game is great to benchmark with is comes with DirectX11 Specific Features like contact hardening shadows, HDAO and Use of Direct Compu. This particular test has the following enabled:

  • DX11
  • High Quality mode
  • in-game AA enabled
  • in-game AF enabled

And last but not least, one of the titles you can get for free when you purchase a Radeon 7900 series card, Sleeping Dogs as well benefits quite well from the new Catalyst 12.11 driver. it is again a roughly 10% differential on the same card yet with a different driver. Good sstuff.

Final words and conclusion

The new Catalyst 12.11 driver is worthy of getting a little extra media attention. You'll see performance increases a little as a few percent, towards 5% to 10% on average with even up-to 20% on some titles. All that with the very same graphics card. Hey it's free performance, who doesn't like that. We can seriously recommend you to at the very least try out this new driver.

Props to the AMD Catalyst software team to find additional performance throughout the the scope of game titles.

Next to the Catalyst driver suite AMD introduces the Never Settle gaamign bundle. Whatever your thoughts on that may be, in the end it is free additional value as you get free games, even with a very affordable Radeon 7750 you'd receive Far cry 3.

All the way at the other end of the scope you'll receive three games as in Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution and Sleeping Dogs. All great titles really. The big news today however remains the new Catalyst 12.11 driver. Do mind that the tweaks apply to GCN architectuire based graphics cards only, meaning Radeon series 7000. We tried and tesed, but a Radeon 6000 series card does not show any performance increases.

Give it a whirl -- who doesn't like a little free extra performance ? You can download the driver right here.
