A sub 30 USD Heatpipe cooler

OCZ technologies is one of the companies that has grown extensively last year. Originally their focus has been on memory products yet the last year or two we've seen expansion of their entire line of products. Included now are graphics cards, flash memory, obviously power supplies yet also in the high-end segment the PC&P PSU's, recently the HyperSonic notebook segment and over the last year they introduced a new range of coolers.

Now this review was delayed a little, yet a couple of weeks ago OCZ launched a heatpipe based cooler called the Vendetta. We have done a lot of heatpipe CPU cooling reviews already and quite frankly the market is becoming a little saturated, yet in this price-range, OCZ might have a little success in their hands. Hear me out. The Vendetta price level is very aggressive to say at the least for a cooler like this. Next to that for the money the price versus performance ratio is excellent.

You'll notice from the cooling block design that the pipes physically run over the CPU heatspreader, there's no copper block to find, and that actually works. So due to the innovative heatpipe design, the cooler has direct contact with the CPU. Combine that with a price under USD 30 and some good performance results and you are good to go.

So what we'll do today is grab a Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor (2400 MHz) overclock it to 3600 MHz and observe how well this 30 USD cooler performs. That should get your juices flowing ... next page please.
