MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC

MSI is paving the road again by releasing a graphics card with their own design; this time the Radeon HD 6950 gets armed with their own PCB, the new TwinFrozr III cooler and 2 GB of graphics memory. Yeah this card is bound to deliver some decent performance at that oh so important 250 EUR price range.

MSI does what it does best, customizing hardware. They took the R6950 GPU, and threw the rest away. They designed a new PCB loaded with features and overclocking potential, slapped some really cool memory on the card and topped off that GPU with the all new Twin Frozr III cooler.

The new cooler allows high clocks with low volume levels AND keeps the card pretty darn cool. That's definitely a win. Then MSI added stuff, a little micro-switch to control fan RPM in a performance or silent mode, you get triple voltage features through MSI's proprietary AfterBurner overclocking software and of course MSI's Military class II component usage.

And then once it sits in your PC, the only thing you can think about is overclocking with the Afterburner OC application ... and gosh golly then you'll learn quick enough that the card clocks as well as a card that is liquid cooled.

We take this card over a full GHz today on the graphics core, and that says a lot about the sturdy design alright. Anyway, have a peek and then let's head onwards into the review.
