NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 reviewHelleuw everyone, today is the day that this green colored company called NVIDIA is set to announce two new products. That's right, two products on one day. The first the scrumptious nForce 790 series of mainboard, with keywords like ESA, 45-nm Processors and DDR3 support written all over it. The second, obviously being the all new GeForce 9800 GX2, the new flagship performance product that will expand the borders of performance a little more.

We are splitting up all this new hardware lovin' in several articles though. The nForce 790 SLI Ultra review will get it's own article and so will the GeForce 9800 GX2. Next to that we will soon release an article on Quad SLI based on two 9800 GX2 cards combined. Yet NVIDIA pushed the release date (NDA) on Quad SLI forward and thus such results can not yet be included into this article.

That being said, and I do hope I'm not getting too hard to understand, this particular article will cover two products as well, we'll take a peek at NVIDIA reference design GeForce 9800 GX2 and an actual retail version of the GeForce 9800 GX2 from BFG technology.

So this article will cover all the in's and outs of the hottest Series 9 product available, the GeForce 9800 GX2.

That's right folks, get over here and gather around as NVIDIA gave birth to yet another Siamese twin. Two graphics processors brought together on one graphics card, Ying & Yang on a PCB, that in essence is the product that we'll be talking about today. Now normally I'd say that a product of this caliber would compete with ATI's latest high-end card, the Radeon HD 3870 X2 (based on the same principles). Yet NVIDIA's 9800 GX2 however is a good amount faster and therefore is competing with their own GeForce 8800 Ultra.

Based on more energy efficient G92 processors, shrunk die-size and some internal tweaks, the 9800 GX2 will go where the GeForce 8800 Ultra left off, the "Oeltra" is going EOL and is being replaced by this product... well, also something else actually, but we'll have to leave that for another article soon.

Over the next dozen or so pages, we'll tell you all about this new Siamese twin. We'll look at the design; technology; performance; the pro's the con's... and well everything. If your new to Guru3D, or just wonder why our articles are so long... well that's just me and my crazy fetish for pleasant hardware!
