I have a nice analogy for you. You guys know doctor Evil, right? From the Austin power movie series. At one point in part two he quotes with his fingers and says "laser". Very funny stuff as he is under extenuating the effect of his most powerful weapon of choice.
Eeeehm, it's a bit like that with the two products tested today. BFG is in the house with their latest weapons of mass gaming. They recently altered something in their product line-up and released the "OCX" series of products. Typically any manufacturer has it's normal baseline product, then an OC (overclock) products and in the case of BFG, they added an "X". Well, X marks the spot, and OCX obviously is short for frickin' Overclocking eXtreme.
So we picked up two of their OCX models to see what the difference is all about. The first card is based on a true winner, the GeForce 9600 GT OCX. For not a lot of money you get to play around with a good chunk of gaming performance. The results for this OCX version are .. well, very good. The second OCX card we'll take a for a test-spin is the BFG GeForce 8800 GT OCX, again .. a product that stumped us price and performance wise, as the OCX clocks are just extremely good.
Let's open up Pandora's box of benchmarks, and have a peek.
