Not Another Sound Card Review

AuzenTech HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect reviewOh, my head!  I've just been on a four week bender with a sound card.  As strange as that may sound (and there are worse things to have a bender on), there's something pretty awesome about a Home Theatre PC setup.  Only with this bender, I have watched a lot of movies, played some hot games, and listened to a lot more music.  My eyes are bloodshot, my ears are ringing, and I think I used to have a cat.  Somewhere in the middle of this review I have discovered I might have a problem.

The cause of all this?  Well, that would be Auzentech's HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS-Connect, and I've had a good time of it.  I even got the wife to watch a Star Wars movie with me.

Honestly, this is unheard of.

In the beginning there were plays, then came opera, and finally moving pictures.  Fast forward a few decades and we get the ultimate art form: pr0n... no, wait... I mean musicals, where characters burst into song for no good reason.  Soon you have full-length HD movies with surround sound and it's all contained on a small CD-sized disc that you can play on your PC.  Then, like a shiny black obelisk parked in your back yard, thus became home theater.

Anyway, I can't say that the X-Plosion 7.1 had some small part in that, but I can say that there's something to this HTPC thing.  And I can only imagine the results on a larger scale, like what you would find in a decent Home Theatre.  A large part of the experience is the screen for the moving pictures, but another vital part is the sound.
