Introduction - Medusa GeForce 4 Ti4800 SE

imageview.php?image=299Today's write-up based upon a new product from Albatron. I've said it before and will do it again. Albatron is a company that consistently proceeds to surprise me. Out of nowhere they entered the market, in our case the graphics card arena, and took up a big part of that arena. Of course this is due to their excellent marketing team but most of all due to the excellent products they have made. To date there has not been one product we tested from Albatron that made us think it was a questionable buy. Albatron slowly is getting among names like ABit, AOpen, Gigabyte and MSI which is an amazing achievement by itself.

Today we are taking a look at their all new GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE, a graphics card that is clocked at a core frequency of 275 MHz and memory frequency of 550 MHz which makes it a product close to the GeForce4 Ti 4600 and exactly the same as Ti 4400 specification. Don't ask me why NVIDIA has chosen the 4800 as name for this product as it is slower than the Ti 4600. One thing we know though, the '8' refers to AGP8X compatibility. Also, it's equipped with an excellent copper cooling solution and ramsinks this product will likely start to amaze us once more. It doesn't end there though, this Ti 4800 SE is manufactured on a 8 layer GeForce4 Ti 4600 PCB and is equipped with BGA 3.3ns memory covered, as stated, with ramsinks. You don't need extreme technology knowledge to be able to see that this card should be quite an overclocker. I expect to bring it to Ti 4600 performance with a little tweaking. Next to all this the card simply just is a beauty to look at isn't it ?

As always Albatron handles their graphics cards with the same deal of respect as they do with their other products like mainboards. The card really looks awesome, and in the name of the godfather, this card seems to have what it takes to be a winner just by looking at it for the reason mentioned above. The design is a NVIDIA reference based layout on a blue PCB with 128 MB 3.3ns DDR memory.

The card comes with CRT output and DVI output but also S-Video output S-Video connector and supplied cable. Optional there will be a video in version available also.

Furthermore in the box you'll notice of course a manual, one driver CD-ROM, Intervideo WinDVD software (full version) and two games (Motocross mania and serious Sam). You'll also fine a SVideo to composite, composite and a SVideo cable in the box. All in all a very nice package for a rather low-cost graphics card.
