What's PCIe SSD Series All About?

What's It All About?

Zotac released a Sonix 480 GB PCIe SSD with ultra fast Read/Write speed and IOPS. The PCIe SSD has been built upon a Phison E7 controller setup tied to a 512 MB DDR3 DRAM cache buffer. Combined with Toshiba NAND it offers to be a fast 480 GB SSD array that can manage speeds of up-to 2,600 MB/sec and 120K IOPS. Endurance should be pleasant as well as it is rated at 689 TB written.

PCIe Gen 3.0  Interface

The PCIe SSD is designed with a PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 high-speed interface, allowing the system to effortlessly send massive amounts of data to and from the SSD and drastically improves performance for professional and industrial graphic applications. With 480 gigabytes of storage capacity, the Zotac Sonix PCIe SSD is pushing the maximum limit of read and write speeds at up to 2,600 MB per second. The device is tied to the nVME protocol.

What is NVMe?

NVMe is also known as Non-Volatile Memory Express or the Non-Volatile Memory Host Controller Interface Specification. The idea behind NVMe is to improve the storage stack by optimizing the way an application accesses a Flash device. NVMe cuts corners by removing components within the I/O path like that good old fashioned RAID controller. To be able to make use of the new NVMe based devices inside your PC you have to have a proper driver installed, this can be downloaded at the manufacturer website. This enables NVMe devices to function within the existing operating system I/O stack protocol.

The Press Release
