2 - Specifications, Technology & Bundle
Okay then let's dive into the actual review of the MiniPlant Power Supply.
Not only does the PSU have a huge amount of power across all rails, but does so with drop-dead gorgeous noise levels. We can safely say it has pretty fine aesthetics as well, which we'll show you later on in our photo-shoot. In that same photo-shoot you'll notice the petite size of the unit. This is a near kilowatt PSU with standard ATX/PS2 form factor.
If some of you recognize the design, that's very possible. Tuniq is not making this PSU themselves yet outsource production to ATNG. Here are some other specifics

Basically this is a 950 Watts PSU, completely ready for Quad GFX solutions and multi-core (server) systems. The PSU itself is build in accordance with ATX12V Version 2.2 and EPS12V Version 2.91, including 8-pin 12V connection specification and newer PCIe 2.0 power design. If we look closer at the voltage rails for a minute, we see there's nothing to complain about either.
Let's focus on the important 12 Volts rails as there are apparently four of them. Four of them rated 20 AMPs. There seems to be some more leverage though as the +12 maximum combined load in Wattage can be pushed towards 810 Watt.

These four separate 12V circuits each are rated with a 20A to 25A maximum peak load to ensure the stable distribution of the power requirements of your high-end gear; 4x (20a x12v) = a 960 Watt calculated peak.
To get you a broader overview, one GeForce 8800 GTX/Ultra draws roughly 10A maximum. Triple SLI would not even itch this PSU with a peak, though the PSU would chuckle a little. You'll also have loads of connectivity, native (fixed on the PSU).
Native Cables
Quantity | Cable Description | Length (inches) |
1 | 20+4 Pin Motherboard Connector | 20 |
1 | P4 Motherboard Connector | 20 |
1 | 8-pin ATX EPS Motherboard Connector | 20 |
2 | 8 Pin PCI-Express Connectors | 20 |
2 | 6 Pin PCI-Express Connectors | 20.5 |
2 | SATA lines with three SATA connections each | 36 |
2 | Molex lines with three molex and one floppy each | 37 |
2 | 8-pin to 6-pin PCI-E adapter cables | 3 |
Adapters
- (2) 8-pin to 6-pin PCI-E adapter cables - 5.75"
- Power connector
A photo of the the entire bundle together with added 8-pin to 6-pin PCI-E adapter cables ... good choice as there is no modular connectivity.
- Power supply unit
- Power Cord
- Instruction Manual
- 2x PCI-E 8-pin extension cable
- 10x cable ties
So this is interesting; two 6+2-pin PCI-E 2.0 connectors and 2 6-pin PCI-E connectors are provided for SLI and Crossfire graphics cards. Also, the PSU is covered by a three year warranty which is nice.
